What do you guys think would do more for our running game over the next 10 years? A first round RT and second round guard in 2025, or a 1st or second round RB? A good O-line can make an average RB look decent. The opposite of that (poor line, good RB) is much less likely to produce long-term good results, and we have seen that demonstrated. I think Benson (compared to Connor) is an example of a RB needing a clear gap to start with, at least so far. So the answer to your query is: go for O line improvements first... if we have a choice at the time. IMHO

IMO the team should do their best to try to retain JC on a yearly basis. Like they did for Larry over his last several years. If James finds that unacceptable, he’s calling his own shots. I would HATE to see him go though!

A first round RT and second round guard in 2025, or a 1st or second round RB? Ah, the chicken or the egg. We want talent at all positions, but the O-Line would take precedent for such a high level pick. - Also, I don't believe the FO will be looking to recruit a RB at the top end of the draft for the foreseeable. I was up for a Tackle in the first round of the 2024 draft, but the recruitment of Jonah Williams torpedoed that idea. It's very unfortunate with the injury to Jonah, as we haven't had a proper chance to gauge how this will turn out. - We did take Christian Jones in the 5th Round and for such a player, at a physically demanding position, it would be highly unfair to adversly judge him at this point; he was always 'one for the future', where the FO liked his fundamentals but knew he would require time on the roster to strengthen up and adapt to the rigors of the NFL. We also took a Guard in the third round, Isaiah Adams, which is at a decent level of the draft for the position. Overall, I don't consider we are neglecting the O-line but you can never stand still in this game, you are either moving forward or backwards. - If there is a fantastic RT option that presents in the first round, then I could get behind drafting him. Most would think we have a greater need at either IDL or Edge, but ultimately we want the best player on offer, so if that be a RT then go get him. Should that be the case DH, then what the is the future for Jonah Williams, just a back-up swing Tackle? Going back to James Conner, it would be gutting to see him leave elsewhere. A monster player with a big heart and influence over the team. We cannot do losing players of his ilk, they are few and far between. - www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/how-james-conner-s-riveting-all-in-speech-inspired-cardinals-vs-chargers/ar-AA1sJmwT?ocid=BingNewsSerp

It took a minute or a few days to decide.
I love the way he approaches life. I love watching him play and he adds value to the jersey.
Back up the Brinks truck( sarcasm…Monti will be frugal)

One thing I find interesting to consider is how Connor's performance relates to Kyler's. Kyler has played as more of a game manager this year and appears to have lost a step on throwing deep. I don't know how other teams are game-planning him yet, but if this becomes a permanent issue, they'll be stacking the box against the run more often. That certainly won't help Connor and makes it a bigger imperative that anyone who replaces Connor can get buy with fewer holes. There are three ways to address this issue.
1. Find a QB who can stretch defenses if Kyler lost this ability.
2. Over-spend on OL to mask Kyler's shortcomings which then robs us of Cap $$s to invest on our DL where it's most needed.
3. Over-spend on an aging RB like Connor and pray he keeps producing as he ages (statistically unlikely)

Isn't Benson the Connor heir-apparent? I would not spend a dime on a new RB if Mr. Connor decides to leave. And I think he will leave. Money talks, BS walks.

Stud. Absolute stud. Could Conner be one of those extremely rare RB’s who can keep pounding the ball like this into his 30’s? I hate giving older RB’s large contracts, but our team would not have three wins without him this year. I’d love the Fitz year to year deal, but don’t think it will happen. I don’t think Benson will be close to what Conner is by next season, if ever.

Who doesn't love what Conner brings to the table.
He's very hungry for another contract.
If I was Monti I would not get emotional like Fans and Steve Keim.
Running backs should never take up a lot of cap space. And aging RB's with production are a true unicorn.
I maintain I'd stay away from anything but one year deals for him.

Except to date Benson has not shown the same spirit/attitude/ability that Conner has in abundance.
Will he ever, or is he an NFL flop?

I agree with the premise and as a unicorn and his value to the team I would not have an issue with a solid 2 year contract for 2025-2026. There are players who earn an exception and he is one IMHO.

I'm not sure any team would actually, and that will be the dilemma all parties in this face. Just don't cave and give him more than one year. It will be a test of the new management. Good point, it will be a good test of the new management. Same Ol Cardinals or something new for us? What do you guys think would do more for our running game over the next 10 years? A first round RT and second round guard in 2025, or a 1st or second round RB? With our OL I would not take a RB till the 4th or later we have so many other needs. I contend if we have a top 5 OL (a hopeful goal) an average RB will look excellent.

"He ranks 3rd in Cards history in rushing TDs (33) & 10th in rushing yards (3,131)."
It doesn't seem that long ago we signed him. That's an amazing stat, and a clear demonstration of his skill and worth. - Sit down and suck it in, he has become a true inspiration and Cardinal great.
Enjoy watching him while you still can.
