A bunch of people said during pre-season that if the Cardinals can get to 2-2 after the WAS game, and compete vs SF at game 5 and not get beat up, the rest of the schedule looks favorable.
The Cardinals did not compete well vs. the Bils. The score was deceiving.
The Cardinals obliterated the Rams. The score reflected one solid team and one wrecked team.
The Cardinals game vs. DET will set the tone for the first half of the season. A few teams will reconsider penciled-in wins. DET is nervous.

The Cardinals game vs. DET will set the tone for the first half of the season. A few teams will reconsider penciled-in wins. DET is nervous. I think the first week the Cardinals held up pretty well against a team who are picked by some to make it to the SB this year. The Cardinals played pretty badly, yet still hung with the Bills and even had a chance to win. That says a lot IMO, especially seeing the Bills go on the road and obliterate the Dolphins. The Rams were decimated with injuries, so the Cards had the best chance to win that game. If it was a close and ugly win for the Cards, I would think the Cards are at best average. But blowing out the Rams shows maybe these Cardinals are a much improved team from last year. It at least shows their defense can be dominate against a weaker offense. Not only were the Rams missing one of 2 top receivers and a couple of their starting oline, Kupp went out with an injury in the second quarter. Cardinals took full advantage of it. But too early too tell how good or bad this Cardinals team is. They still have issues. One is, pass protection is not very good. KM legs is what saved the day on a lot of plays. They still keep going away from MHJ. He did all his damage mainly in the first quarter. Looking at some of those catches, the guy is unstoppable. That back shoulder throw to MHJ looked unstoppable. The defender was draped all over him and he still caught it with ease. The containment on defense is still an issue and the secondary continues to break down in coverage. Without the pressure, Stafford had a lot of wide open receivers to hit. At least Buddha finally showed up. Things seem so much easier for the Cards defense when they have a pass rush. Cant wait to see Robinson back. But if the Cards can pull out a win against the Lions, it would be a huge leap forward in this rebuild.

The Cardinals playing well against a depleted team is not what we are used to seeing. Time and time again, backups seem to have career games against us but not this time. That was a much needed and refreshing change of pace. Also, games typically used to end with our offense trying to win on last minute drives or our defense doing what they can to protect a lead, hence the nickname of Cardiac Cards. Having the offense on the field in victory formation instead of the obligatory last minute heroics is a refreshing change of pace.

Goff owned the Cards as a Ram. Is it because he is better than K1? Or did the Rams have better coaching and a better team?
The Lions are what we thought they were and Goff is who we thought he was.
The Lions have the better roster...I think the Cards have better coaching and the two teams mirror each other in many ways.
This matchup comes down to the QBs...I like K1 over Goff.
This can be another scoring clinic. The Rams can not seem to raise their DB play to the level of their DL.
Despite the critics many of them being fans, K1 can play under center and likes to do so, it isn't his job to force-feed one WR, he can read defenses as well as work through his progressions, two weeks in a row the passes over the middle are frequent and completed, his accuracy is elite and he is an elite QB.
You may enjoy what a former Ram had to say about him and the Cards:

The Lions with Goff under center has had the Cardinals number. I think he is 8-1 against them career wise, both Rams and Lions. But I just dont know if they can pull this one off against the Lions. One issue is the lack of pass protection. That was against a Rams dline with no big time player. Now they are going up against Hutchinson who is a beast at pass rushing. Every time I see Kyler scramble I get nervous after he blew out his knee 2 years ago scrambling and non contact injury. Rams oline had 4th stringers in there while Lions have a top 5 offensive line and they love to run the ball down your throat. I just see another Bills type game. I would love to eat crow on this.

I think DryHeat’s assertion of no-preseason play by the starters had an effect. Defenses get right faster than offenses. The Rams moved the ball on the Lions…they didn’t against the Cards. Based on the play thus far this season… the Cards are more consistent this season and at home. I expect the Cards to put up over 30 points against the Lions. This is setting up as a breakout game for Mack Wilson. Cards DBs are playing better as well as the DL. Win or lose I like the matchup.

The confidence level on this team must be sky high right now. Killing a major monkey off their back was beyond huge. All levels of excellence in all three phases were unleashed. The Lions are at least the best or no 2 behind Niners. We will be facing an angry fired up team from that loss. But, if we defeat them the sky is the limit for this team. Our offense is outstanding, specials teams great, defense a work in progress but great for the Ram game.

This could be a great year if they survive the pre-bye week portion and 3 at home helps.

We need to have Mack Wilson blitz more. Our offense with a healthy KM is very elite, if D can get some pressure on Qb we can maybe be 18-22 range. That should be at least in playoff territory.

Hutchinson against Paris Johnson is much watch TV. If Johnson has any trouble look for some extra double TE sets deployed by the Cardinals. Tip Reiman can block well at times I love that block on the KR for DeeJay Dallas he obliterated one guy then two more on the same block. But you know Eijah Higgins is doing great I have had my eye on him, The guy gets fewer reps but make the most of them at tight end, Trey Benson did not have a good game. From what I saw of Benson against the Rams...I would say they need to hold him out until he can get more practice and coaching...then work him in slowly...
Our back up RB's are good enough to back up Connor until Benson can get a better grasp on playing the game...

I am wondering if Xavier Weaver will play this week...he did pretty good in Pre Season...
Could he be one of our sleeper players? I did not see any stats for him against the Bills...and last week he was injured so did not play against the Rams...
I wonder if Petzing might throw in some surprise plays using Weaver that the Lions are not prepared for...hmm...just a thought....

Watching Gameday for TNF and I thought I heard that none of the Rams defensive starters were out for our game? Is that true? That's significant in my opinion.
