........sigh..annnnddd now the Monti bashfest starts? Just STOP dude. You're not helping. Woah, woah.. bashfest ? It’s legitimate criticism. We had a lot of money to spend (and still do) and Monti opted to stick with a second year unproven rookie, a guy who is trying out a new position (Collins), and Gardeck. Monti isn’t a bad gm but this was a mistake. Oh PLEASE. You were JUST gettin' fired up. Why don't you just rent him your CRYSTAL BALL? There are other guys on the team that you're forgetting. Like Dimukeje and Luketa. Between them and Zaven/Gardeck and having a month to put something together, it's a tad early to start slinging MUD!

Not a complimentary article for Reddick, but these SI team news tend to be team friendly. Reddick had his start with us and his best years with Gannon. Maybe there could be a solution there. He had 13 sacks last year and 18 and 15 the years before under Gannon. Gannon knows how to use him. He’s 29 and still has time in the NFL to play at a high level. Feel awful for B.J. I hate ACL and ACL/MCL, which I’ve been through twice personally. A long rehab. But you can rehab from them and come back just as strong, which is the good news.

Thanks for the update...may be best to let the players ramp up a bit slower when they are getting nicked up. Injuries and avoiding them is a rough road.

Why the big push for an edge? Not like they are playing for a championship here. Get someone for depth maybe but no need to spend a bunch of resources on a replacement. At least not right now

Devongent, thanks for posting this link. It's a good read and it provides a new level of positivity following BJO's ACL tear. Fan's are rightfully concerned about who fills in the vacant OLB roster spot. BJO's spot on the D will be filled by a very good player or many good enough players. LB Xavier Thomas gets a shout out in the Drake article. Many forum members were excited to see MO grab Thomas in the 5th round last April. Add me to that list. Thomas' size and speed are right. He lacks experience only. He played at Clemson so we know he is capable of starting for the Cardinals D, if he has a good TC and PS. It is true that many forum members are wary about Clemson's players. The school has a spotty history when it comes to player performances at the NFL level. Of course, MO is keeping his eyes open for a capable OLB that gets cast off by another team. There will be a few that don't make rosters. The Cardinals are in a good spot (per waiver wire process) to sign waived LBs. I am not interested in signing a FA for USD $20M annually. Fans need to be patient with the youngsters that were drafted and signed as UDFAs. EZ

If I thought we were a pass rusher away from being a playoff contender, I would be all in on picking up a pass rusher regardless of the cost in salary or draft picks...but we are not there yet...well...that is my opinion...
Think about this...Ojulari did not really contribute much last season...so, look at it this way...before we started the off season, we had already gone through the draft and FA. J.G. had no idea how Ojulari was going to do this season...what if Ojulari had not done much this offseason? It seems to me that J.G. more than likely already had a backup plan in place should that have happened...
Could it be that J.G. knows we are not a playoff contender yet? I am not saying that we can't make the playoffs this season...It is just my opinion that we need one more draft to get to that level...
If we find out this season that our weakest position is have a very good to great pass rusher....we can address that with our first 2 picks in next years draft...even it means needing to trade up in the first round to get a pass rusher. Reddick was drafted in the first round 13th overall...if we win 9 games this season only, we should be very close to that pick with our first round pick next season...and don't forget that we traded from the 12th overall pick up to the 6th overall pick to take Paris...we can do that again to take the best pass rusher available at that pick....or very close to that pick...

Edge players are one of the deepest positions for the 2025 draft -- below is a link from WF listing guys to watch during the 2024 college season. NOTE: When Jack Sawyer of Ohio State is pre-season ranked #8 at this position, you know this position group is deep in talent. Hello Dev...how are you doing?
The way I look at it is this way...the previous draft...the Texans traded up to get Will Anderson...well...I see no reason that we can do the same thing if we are truly a Pass Rusher away from becoming a playoff contender next season...

At least not right now IMO the goal is to maintain the level of competitiveness they felt they had prior to BJO's incident. I don't think the team is overreacting like this board is.
