Official Game Day Thread Arizona Cardinals vs Atlanta Falcons The Beginning Of The Run
Cardinals fans, we are back in time. It is January 3rd, 2009 and we are at home vs these same Atlanta Falcons in State Farm Stadium. Its "The Beginning Of The Run" of that 2008 Cinderella season when The Arizona Cardinals made a run to the Super Bowl despite being called "the worst team ever to make the playoffs." (Link Below) We had legendary QB Kurt Warner and three not one but three WRS with 1000 yards receiving. Future Hall of Famer Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin * Heart of the offense* and the young Steve Breaston. RBs Edgerrin James and Tim Hightower. A defense that came alive in the playoffs with players like DT Darnell Dockett, S Antrell Rolle and S Adrian Wilson. For the first time since 1947 the Cardinals (9-7) won a playoff game 30-24 over the Atlanta Falcons who were 11-5. The run was on Rookie head coach Ken Whisenhunt had his 1st playoff win as a head coach. WR Larry Fitzgerald with 6 receptions 106 yards and a spectacular endzone TD catch became a folklore legend. And Q Anquan Boldin and his 72 yd TD catch and run that mesmorized the crowd of nearly 63,000 fans. It all started with the Falcons. The Run was on as next we defeated the Carolina Panthers and finally the Philadelphia Eagles on our way to Tampa to face the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Super Bowl. The beginning all started with Atlanta and their trip to the nest. Now, as we turn the half way point of the season, we are on a different run. A run that can take us in many directions. A ticket to the top pick in the draft. A nine game journey for starting QB Kyler Murray and his comeback after an injury. Fans, Its Game Day Week 10 and We are glad to have you with us on The GAME DAY THREAD.
Cardinals win over Atlanta 2008 playoffs
< Click on the you tube link to view Hello Everyone and Welcome to Week 10 of the NFL Season Our Arizona Cardinals play at home today at State Farm Stadium. Arizona's record is(1-8) and the team plays host to the (4-5) Atlanta Falcons of the NFC South Division. The Falcons come to town nursing a two game losing streak. Atlanta is currently in 2nd place in the division. So, this is a must win game for them as they attempt to keep pace with the 1st place New Orleans Saints who stand at 5-4 in the NFC South. Football database (See below) has the Cardinals ranked 26th in the NFL with 289.7 yards per game. This ranking is a bit of a misnomer as three of the teams below the Cardinals have only played 8 games. On the defensive side of the ball we rank 24th with an average of 352.4 yards given up per game. Our offense is responsible for this defense ranking this low. Three and Outs have become more common place. Turnover on downs appearing on th stat sheets more often. A total of 9 Punts last week vs the Browns That alone a sign of futility by an offense that netted 58 yards last week in Cleveland. But we are back home today and so is our quarterback Kyler Murray. He is back at home on the football field where he has been dearly missed since tearing up his knee in 2022. Kyler has 9 games to rehab himself into the star player he can be. This is Kyler begining his run in Cardinal history once again. How he plays and works with this new coaching staff has him at the forefront of all that is Cardinal Football future. Instead of drafting a QB in 2024, the Cardinals can concentrate on buidling a team around our star quarterback. Failure is not an option. The season may be over but "the Run is On." During the 2008 regular season and the playoffs, when the opposing team scored first, the Falcons went 0-5.
In the first NFC Division playoff game, the 9-7 Cardinals scored first and then killed off the 11-5 Falcons SB hopes by the final score of 30-24.
With Murray back as QB#1 this next Sunday, there is a 50/50 chance that the Cardinals will win the coin flip. The Cardinals have scored a TD on their opening drive in 2023. So we know this group can beat the odds and do some magic on the same day.

As much as I am looking forward to KM's return, I got to admit, I'm very nervous about this game. It's not about a win or loss, but how well KM can do after a long hiatus with fewer tools than he is used to. If things don't go well, will he get frustrated and try to overcompensate? I don't know. Hopefully he keeps an even keel no matter what happens.

Everyone…coaches…media…fans…forum members…need to let KM ease into playing an NFL game…at NFL game speed…(10) games into the season…for all players but him…and (10) months removed from tearing up his knee on our home turf in a non-contact injury…usually the worst kind to sustain. I…for one…will not post (1) criticism of him in this game…and I’ve been know to go after KM…a WHOLE LOT. He gets a free pass in this game coming off the injury he has…with the OL he has…the RBs he has…and the WRs at his disposal. It’s a completely new offense for him…and a totally different OC then he’s probably ever played for before. I’m ok with mistakes…be it physical and/or mental running this offense for the first time at NFL live speed…and everyone else should be also. I really don’t care if it’s a win or a loss. I really don’t care if he throws more picks then TDS. What I’m most interested in is his deamenor…his command of the huddle…and his command of the offense…his leadership qualities…his comfort level under center…going through his reads…his footwork…his vision…his play faking…how the team responds to him…both on the field and on the sideline…how he interacts with players and coaches having not played in (10) months is really important for him and the team to connect…especially if he is to assume and ascend to being this organization’s franchise QB. I WILL NOT post (1) negative comment about ANY of the above in his first game back…but rest assured…I will be watching and observing all of the above…and so too…no doubt…will his coaches…to really see where he is with all this…and if he has the ability to grow within this system. What he puts on tape…will ultimately determine his future either here or somewhere else. But everyone needs to hold back on jumping on him…for any type of mistake in his first game back…give him some leeway…I really hope he succeeds…for himself as a Professional Athlete…and for us as an organization…

Heads up:
I adjusted the ProBoards software on 11-11-2023, allowing a faster user connection to posted video links. The user experience should be seamless and similar to other 5-star Boards.
Reignman, thank you for the recommendation. Good luck to your Vikings!
