No gurantee Dobbs stays. He wants to start and I am pretty sure he would of gotten too rich of offers to go play for other teams vs staying behind KM. No one will know now. We will never know, but it’s a relatively simple educated guess to imagine a starting NFL QB who impressed more than expected would receive offers too rich for our QB room to remain a cheap backup here. Everyone talks about trading Dobbs. I’m beginning to get concerned with the trade down with Houston which forced us to pass on Will Anderson Jr, Jalen Carter or Devin Witherspoon, who are all looking great. Then we traded back up for Paris Johnson Jr, who is playing noticeable worse than tackle Darnell Wright, who was taken by the Bears four spots later. Tackle Broderick Jones is also playing better, and was available if we had stayed at pick 12. That 1st and 3rd 2024 pick plus the 12th pick looked great, but Houston keeps winning and those two picks are becoming less and less exciting, while Paris Johnson Jr has a long way to go.

You have to question the acumen of the coaching staff. They genuinely thought a change at QB would result in more wins? They genuinely thought Clayton Tune gave us a better chance to win? The amount of delusion that is on display is astonishing.
It's sad to see the same ole mantra of "We are a QB away" hasn't left this organization. When are they going to come to grips with reality. There are so many things wrong with this team. We have no OL, no RB and no WR's and you think a QB is going to have success here?
Clayton Tune's performance today shouldn't surprise any rational fan. This was expected. He was a mediocre QB that has no support. Dobbs just played well and overcame many of the weaknesses we had. That isn't to say he was a franchise QB or he is our future. But he was worth keeping. Getting rid of him to get a 6th round pick back was foolish. This was a QB who knew our system. Knows the coaching staff. Let him play out the year. Given a reasonable contract for next year as a back-up. Then we are sold at QB with Kyler returning and having an experienced QB as a backup.
At the same time, I was not at all surprised to see Dobbs have success with the Vikings today. Give a decent QB a supporting cast and he can achieve some success. He wasn't great but he did enough to help them win.

When discussing the importance of "team depth", we had one of the most important examples and let him go. I don't buy the argument that he would have left anyway because that argument assumes he was a shoo-in somewhere for a starting job. If nothing else I would have rather seen that happen than seeing us give him away.

He was our best available passer and our best available rusher. 😂. Hope he has a great time in MN.

Letting go of the guy who ranked #1 this week for the guy that ranked #32. You couldn't write a better script for a bungling football team if you were writing an NFL based comedy. The laugh track rolls and everyone says "ahh same ol' Cards!"
