medicalxpress.com/news/2022-12-football-players-age-faster.htmlSadly, former professional football players—particularly linemen—are more likely than nonplayers with similar demographic characteristics to develop diseases typically associated with advanced age when significantly younger, according to new research published December 8, 2022, in the British Journal of Sports Medicine. These former elite athletes also tend to experience age-related conditions—hypertension and diabetes, among others—earlier, compared with the general population. Looking across all conditions, these athletes' health spans were reduced by nearly a decade. Wow, up to 10 years of a big man's life can be sacrificed for a national sport that is 100% and entertainment business for 32 billionaire families. We should not be shocked at all by the player's desires to take advantage of their DNA gifts and to achieve goals and statuses far above average men.

This story reminds me of the tragic life of Mike Webster, He was the great ALL PRO center who became homeless and died on the streets. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Webster

This story reminds me of the tragic life of Mike Webster,He was the great ALL PRO center who became homeless and died on the streets. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_WebsterA couple of years ago, I watched a program about his life. It was truly a sad story. While his story was/is one of the saddest, there are countless others where life after football did not go well. Some just couldn't adjust to life after football, some had to deal with almost unbearable physical problems due to wear and tear, and worst of all...brain damage to the point their personality becomes almost unrecognizable over time. Mike Webster had to deal with all three. I love football. It's really the only sport I care about. All others are a distant second. Having said that, I would never criticize, complain, or doubt one's manhood for deciding this is not for me. Obviously not all ex-football players have a sad story, but there are enough examples to give one pause.
