Why is it when the Cardinals sign players who have been solid most of their career & all of a sudden they are always hurt & can't play? They need to put a no play no pay clause in the contracts.

The problem is that is logical. There is nothing logical in professional sports. In USA and main pro sports FB or NFL already has least amount of guaranteed salaries. A violent sport that is walking a thin line with concussions and other lifelong risks to the health of the players, so don’t look to players union offering concessions.
Higher CAP, larger protected roster, and larger PS rosters that come out of owners budget are things needed, but good luck taking millions from billionaires the crying would be endless.
There has to be changes for quality of games.

The problem with going after older free agents or trading for older vets is front-loading guaranteed $$ in the contract. I have pounded the table on this forum for years that when going after free agents who have some proven tape and are 25-28 yrs. old because they are at their peak physically. What the Cardinals under this regime do instead is: - Sign T. Suggs who just wanted to get another "bag" with no interest in playing (Shaq Barrett who played under VJ was available and picked up by the Bucs for less $$ than SK paid Suggs to get a rush LB). Barrett promptly went out and led the NFL in sacks.
- Traded for a 30 1/2 yr old Rodney Hudson because the team had such a great need at center -- yet skipped drafting of perennial all-pro Creed Humphrey because he is left handed ?? ... this is what Gambo alleges. Hudson now appears to be cashing in on his contract and quietly slipping into retirement as he teases the coaching staff that his "injury" is almost over.
- Sign players who've flashed some talent but ONLY IN THEIR CONTRACT YEAR proving they just want to cash in on a long term, rich contract -- Jordan Phillips !!
- Emmitt Smith -- yikes do I need to say more ? Old RB's are never a good signing.
Proving my point I made at the top of my comment is the only FA I can think of which has really worked out and actually got a 2nd FA contract from the Cards is Justin Pugh. Pugh signing followed my script because he was signed when he had just turned 26 and has been a stalwart, solid LG for the team. With my strategy above on targeting FA's the Cards now would have solved their "holes" on the team with these players I posted should be priority free agents. - Pass Rusher - 2 yrs ago my #1 priority free agent was to trade CJ (get some picks) and go after younger Trey Hendrickson who promptly helped the Bengals go to the SB and he had 14 sacks in 2021. So far in 2022, his PFF grade is an excellent 83.8. BTW: Hendrickson would have saved cap $$ after trading CJ to go younger. Hendrickson was 26 yrs old at time of signing.
- Center - I had 2 priority free agents coming into 2022: One was James Daniels who has had a solid career with experience playing both center and guard. This would have solved the Hudson - Pugh I think I want to retire problem and would have been the solution to center for a long time as he was only age 24 at time of signing by the Steelers His PFF score on a bad Steelers OL is 70.2
- Corner - pairing up another proven CB opposite of B. Murphy was supposedly a priority. Throughout this years FA period, I wanted SK to sign Chavarious Ward who the 49ers signed at age 25. Well - Ward has a PFF score of 78.5 in 2022. What I don't understand about this one is VJ likes CB's who can cover and tackle well - Ward is excellent in coverage and he already has 38 tackles for the year and according to PFF puts him 8th in the NFL for CB's in tackles.

I’m turning 56 in under a month, but if the Cards lose this week, I’m going for a tryout.
