Interesting article on the 5'10" 165lb FG kicker from Kansas State. Seems he holds some NCAA Records for the Big 12 and K State.
Could he be Dawson's replacement?

Doesn't seem like there is much space for gunpowder in that skinny kicking leg - - -
But maybe he was born on Krypton and nobody knows.

If Phil doesn't crumble into dust from age this year, McCrane might be just be a camp body to keep Phil sharp. Or if Phil starts the season and then swoons McCrane could be called up and signed to take his place, maybe. He is in stature like a JJ Nelson kicking the ball. But hey Kickers don't have to be shaped like the Hulk to do their job.

Went 133 for 134 in extra points (I know it's college but still....) and averaged 86.4% FGs made in his 4 year college career.
Not too shabby.

True enough. Long range FGs are less impressive though, and sometimes those are needed.
Maybe if he can put the ball on a spot the ST coach decides, that could be a factor for the better.
In a last ditch tackle of a runback situation he would be dead meat compared to someone bigger,
so there is that to consider as well.
I'm not up on the new rules, so someone speak up if there are factors to be considered next season that would give a small guy an even chance.
I still can't get by that very small frame, though - scary.

It's crazy how big and athletic a lot of the punters and kickers have become the last 12 years or so. It used to be that the kicker/punter was the guy on the team you made fun of for being a wimpy, little, often-times foreigner dude.
Now guys that kick the ball are pretty darn muscular and sometimes lay out a returner. Some of them have better physiques than half the team.
I'm not sold on this guy until I see his leg in action. We have all seen a skinny but wiry strong guy that can crush an apple in his hand or lay a poor sap that outweighs him by 50lbs out with one punch so you never know.

I don’t mean to hijack the thread but does anyone else have serious issues with the Cardswire page loading on their phone? It sometimes takes my phone a little while to even recover after visiting their page, super frustrating
On topic, based on that kid’s numbers in college, it wouldn’t shock me at all to see him win the job, Phil had some great moments last year but overall, I think his skills might be deteriorating

Remember Rackers? He could give a big hit, and loved doing it. Maybe he had been a rugby player -- can't recall now.

Oh yeah, I remember Neil. I liked him, but every time he'd line up for an important field goal, my wife would say, "Oh crap, here comes Hackers!"
