Official Game Day Thread Arizona Cardinals @ Las Vegas Raiders
Hi Cardinals Fans, Raiders Fans & Guests,
Welcome to Week 2 of the Arizona Cardinals 2022 NFL season and Today's Game Day Thread. This week our Arizona Cardinals travel 280 miles to Las Vegas from Glendale Arizona to face their second straight AFC west opponent in the Las Vegas Raiders. Both teams lost their season openers and are now 0-1.
Last Sunday, The Cardinals were dominated at home by the Kansas City Chiefs by a score of 44-21. Meanwhile, the Raiders were at the LA Chargers and lost 24-19. The Cardinals were beaten in all phases of the game. The Raiders played a relatively close game but they were beaten mostly by turnovers. QB Derek Carr was intercepted 3 times with 295 yards through the air of which 141 were to Devante Adams. He had 10 receptions in the loss to the Chargers. The Raiders offensive line allowed 6 sacks on Derek Carr. Chargers LB Kahlil Mack led the way with three sacks. The pass protection was the problem not Derek Carr's passing game.
The porous line that the Cardinals started last week will have to fend off DE Max Crosby. Add to that, Cardinals QB Kyler Murray will be looking into the Raiders defensive backfield for where DB Jonathan Abrams is one the field. He accounted for 12 tackles last week in a losing cause.
Last season the Cardinals were 8-1 on the road during the regular season. The Raiders were 4-4 at home at the end of the 2021 season. Like the Cardinals they too got off to a fast start winning their first 3 games. This season has both teams wanting urgently to gain some momentum with their first victory of the season.
The Raiders finished 10-7 in 2021 while the Cardinals went from a 7-0 start to finish the season with an 11-6 record.
History 6-4 Raiders lead series The Oakland/Los Angeles/Las Vegas Raidershold the lead between the two teams with a 6-4 record. The first meeting was in 1973 when the then Oakland Raiders defeated the St Louis Cardinals 17-10. One of the more thrilling games was in 2002 when the Cardinals Jake Plummer out dueled Raiders QB Rich Gannon in 34-31 overtime win. The two teams last played in 2018 with QB Derek Carr handing the Cardinals a 23-21 loss who were QB'd by Josh Rosen.
Sunday's contest will set the tone for either of these two teams to rebound from tough losses in week one. Look for a different game from The Cardinals offensively. They should have a better passing game don't count on the Cardinals picking off Derek Carr three time or much less sacking him close to six times. The Cardinals need to show up to play and execute on both sides of the ball.

OFFICIAL GAME DAY THREAD ARIZONA CARDINALS @ LAS VEGAS RAIDERS
LETS MAKE A DEAL
Trade History between the Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders
1. The Cardinals wanting to upgrade at quarterback traded for Oakland Raiders QB Carson Palmer. They had ex Detroit Lion QB Drew Stanton on the roster but new Coach Bruce Arians and GM Steve Keim made the trade. The Cardinals gave up a 6th round pick in the 2013 draft and a 7th rder in 2014. In addition to Carson Palmer the Cardinals received a 7th rd pick in 2013 who turned out to be TE D.C. Jefferson. Jefferson played in 2013 but was later cut after a DUI.
2. QB Josh Rosen Trade> Arizona traded up to the 10th spot in the 2018 NFL draft. The Cardinals gave up their 15th pick in the 1st, a 3rd rd pick and a 5th rd pick in order to draft Rosen. Most media outlets said this was a steal.
3. C Rodney Hudson The Cardinals traded away their 3rd pick pick in 2021 for Center Rodney Hudson. The Cardinals also received a 7th rd pick in the deal.
4. CB Trayvon Mullen was acquired from the Raiders for a conditional 7th rd pick on August 30th of 2022.

CARDINALSINS did a great job on THE GAME DAY THREAD. The logo work above is his and below is his take on the game Sunday.
.Welcome to the Official Game Day Thread Announcers: Greg Gumbel and Adam Archuletta Vegas Odds and Ends: Las Vegas (-5.5); Total: 51.5 Points History: Raiders lead the Cardinals 6-4. The Raiders won their last contest in 2018, with a last minute Daniel Carlson FG Both teams come into week 2 with a loss to their name. Last week, Derek Carr went 22/37, and lead the Raiders to a 19 to 24 loss to the San Diego...I mean...the LA Chargers. Of note, his new/old best friend went off for 141 yards and a TD; looks like Devante Adams didn't suffer the typical slump that receivers have when they switch teams. Waller was the only other receiving option of note, catching 4 passes for 79 yards. Josh Jacobs was pretty productive on the ground, averaging 5.7 yards a carry on 10 attempts. On the flip-side, as most Cardinals fans know, we lost to the Chiefs 21-44, and it could have been much worse if the boys from Kansas didn't put in their 2nd stringers. No need to delve into the details on this loss, just peruse the forum below for the sordid details. Of note, there was one similarity between these two teams last week: no sacks were had from either team. The significant difference lies within the funds allocated to the pass rush on each team. Chandler and Maxx Crosby are making too much money to produce a goose egg, and will look to remedy this failure in week 2. Sure, we could consider the salary that Watt is making, but I prefer to allocate his funds in the Hide and Seek category, or maybe the Leadership category. He's definitely not helping our pass rush on the sidelines. Road to victory? Per Joey Bosa, its by getting into the mind of Derek Carr, and by destroying his confidence through the judicious application of pressure. Carr was sacked 6 times last week, and was picked off 3 times with 6 pass breakups as well. Not sure if VJ can turn this defense around in one week, but the Barbarian did come close several times against the stellar Chief OL, and the Raider offensive line is nothing to write home about. Maybe he doesn't come close this time, and actually earns a sack or two. Next week might not exactly be a "must win" game, but there is this interesting tidbit.

HOT - Raiders Center Andre James is ruled out for Sunday's game. He suffered a concussion and is undergoing protocals and evaluations. James is currently the 6th-ranked Center in the NFL. His backup is fair but nowhere near as efficient and effective as James. Like all QBs, Carr depends on a reliable Center to manage the middle of the Raiders Oline.
The Cardinals need many more good breaks to go their way to beat the Raiders on on Sunday. Despite the Raiders final injury report released on Saturday morning, the Raiders are still giving -5.5 points per the bookies.

I just want to see a competitive game at this point. Some physical play would be great with Conner going off like he should have done last week.
Last, can the defense show up and limit the TDs and get a couple turnovers…please.
The first six games were going to be tough, but hope they are not season enders.
