Welcome to the official start of the 2022 Arizona Cardinals NFL Preseason!
Note: A Preseason GDT Will Be Abbreviated Vs Regular Season Games
Arizona Cardinals @ Cincinnati Bengals GDT August 12, 2022
The 2022 version of the Arizona Cardinals start the season with
a road trip to Cincinnati Ohio. It should be a great night for football.
Game time for kickoff is set for 7:30 pm. The weather looks great.
Game time temperature should be close to around 80 degrees
with a slight wind from the Northeast. (see the weather link on the following pages.)
Paycor Stadium is the new name for the Bengals Home
What to look for Cardinals
Coach Kingsbury stated in his latest press conference that
"no starters will play on offense Friday Night versus the Bengals."
On the defensive side, He did mention that Marco Wilson, Zaven Collins
and Dennis Gardeck will see acrtion on the field." (see link for credits)

QB
Trace McSorley gets the start. This gives the young
signal caller his chance to earn the third string QB position
on the team. McSorley at 6 ft even, does lack the height
most teams would like to see in their QB room. McSorley like
Kyler Murray has had his share of batted passes in his career.
Arm strength is another area of concern as well. What Trace
does have is the ability to run a RPO offense. Trace is
a very competitige player, He will want to win this game
just because he can. He has a knack for roll out passes connecting,
QB Jarrett Guarantano should also see action in
his first preseason game as a Cardinal. He is a former
Tennessee Volunteer who transferred to Washington St.
At 6 feet 3 and 220 lbs Guarantano has the more
prototypical size you would like to see in a starting NFL QB.
Other players to watch on Offense
Stephen Anderson will see a lot of action in the preseason
The tight end room is loaded with talent for the first time
ever in Arizona. Not since the days of Jackie Smith and J.V. Cain
has the tight end position looked this good to start a season.
Due to the injury status of tight ends Zach Ertz and Maxx Williams
Anderson will have the opportunity to compete for a roster spot.
On the offensive line Joshua Miles continues to impress
He was a 7th round draft choice chosen in the 2019 NFL Draft.
OT Josh Jones a 2021 3rd round NFL draft choice.
Lecitus Smith and Marquis Hayes from this year's draft
class should see plenty of action.
At Running back 6th rd pick Keontay Ingram will be
fighting for a roster spot. Ingram has the size and
knack for breaking tackles. There is deceptive speed
as evident in his practice session runs to daylight with
touchdowns.
The wide receiver depth chart is very strong.
When they are not violating the NFL rules and the Laws
of the State Of Arizonas they have the ability to be one
of the best in the NFL.
WR Greg Dortch is shinning during training camp
Last year I called him the "Torch" back in August of
2021. Now the media is picking up on my nickname
for him. WR Andy Isabella may be at crossroads
for his career, His saving grace is he is a Keim
draftee. He must have a good preseason
and produce as he was expected by the fans.
Steve Keim will lose face if Isabella fails and that is not
a good look for Steve Keim. One by one his
draftees are falling by the wayside as NFL players.
Defense
Last year's 1st round ick of the Cardinals
linebacker Zaven Collins should see plenty of action
versus the Bengals. {PFF} ProFootball Focus has
the Cardinals linebacking Corps ranked in the bottom 3 in the NFL.
PFF gave Collins a respectable 69.3 rating last season.
Jesse Luceta will be another linebacker
He is another rookie to watch during the contest.
Defensive Lineman
Myjai Sanders has had a very good training camp.
Now this coming Friday night he has
an opportunity to grab a roster spot and hold onto it.
NFL Analyst Lance Zierlein commeting on Sanders
"{He has quick feet and twitchy hands, and can disreagrd the block}"
Is he our unsung hero for 2022?
Next the Cornerback position,
CB Marco Wilson, As stated earlier Coach Kingsbury's
plan was for Wilson to see a great deal of action
in the first preseason game of the year.
He needs the work and my suspicion is that
Cardinals may be looking to make a deal to replace him
as a starter in 2022. As of this writing
CB DeAndre Baker former 1st rd pick came in for
visit. The Cardinals are heavily rumored to be shopping
for a CB. Antonio Hamilton, Josh Jackson
are two other corners to watch this weekend.
At Safety Charles Washington and James Wiggins
vie for the backup role behind Budda Baker and
the Thompson twins Jalen and Deionte.
Special Teams
Matt Prater is the kicker
Andy Lee is the punter Nolan Cooney will see action as well.
Returners
Greg Dortch and Victor Bolden
.will handle return duties.
