I ran across this term "foiling" while perusing ocean sail racing information. Unaware of its meaning, I watched the video. Wow, a 2.5 ton sailboat, or foil, lifts itself out of the water and hits 50-60 mph while flying above the water. The video explains how this feat is accomplished, who is doing it, and where the demonstrations can be watched in person. This type racing is just 2 years old, beginning in 2020. Cool! When I was a young man just starting my Navy career, I used to marvel at the gigantic multi-crew sailboats that traveled along the eastern seaboard heading to the America's Cup races. Those monster sailboats were master-crafted single hull designs that had just one purpose -- to race hard and finish first. www.americascup.com/en/historyToday, I think sailing along in my Island Packet boat at 7.5 knots speed is fast enough. I don't want to spill my martini.

PT you are correct in cuteness .

I don't know much about sailing, Americas Cup or foiling....but being a person with many intertest, I do know a little.
Foiling or as it was once called hydrofoil has been developing for some time.
Even the navy has toyed with it....
And surfers have been experimenting with it too. This video is new but those wild surfer guys have been trying to perfect it for some time as well.....looks like they succeeded.
When it comes to Americas Cup. Again, I don't know too much about it, but I do remember when the millionaire/billionaire playboy Ted Turner won it in the 70's. Money may not get you love, but it can do a lot of things....lol.
The other thing I remember about Americas Cup was that we/America had the longest winning streak in sports history. Something over 100 years.
If I'm not mistaken, I think it was Australia that finally broke our winning streak. They didn't have foils but some kind of new and secret winged keel.
