Found this great tweet I've been hard on Steve Keim in the past mostly about his drafting. He deserves a lot of pay back credit for a great job Look at this value for just these 4 players scroll down the tweets on his page Matt Prater $1,075,000 $925,000 $0 $0 $0 $0 $1,075,000 $2,000,000 $2,925,000 ($925,000) Markus Golden $1,000,000 $750,000 $0 $250,000 $0 $0 $1,000,000 $1,985,294 $2,500,000 ($514,706) James Conner $1,250,000 $500,000 $0 $0 $0 $0 $1,250,000 $1,750,000 $1,750,000 $0 Kelvin Beachum $1,075,000 $500,000 $0 $0 $0 $0 $1,075,000 $1,575,000 $2,325,000 ($750,000) twitter.com/JohnnyVenerable?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor

Some very astute signings there FL.
Can he lead the organization to its ultimate quest? He has endured a fair degree of barracking and vitriol generally, but has he said you don't take on a GM job if you want to be liked or high in the popularity stakes.
For myself I have always taken the view that he will be judged on results. Should the Cardinals win the SB with Steve at the helm then I would be pleased for him and have gratitude for what would have been achieved.
For sure you can all dream a'while, but there is still much work to do...

I think every fanbase is destined to hate their GM. Too much bad history, it only takes one mistake to drudge up all the stumbles of yesteryear

I have been a broken record saying the same thing over and over again. This franchise has been bad, really bad. Over the past 40 plus years this team has had less then 10 winning seasons. They have gone through many different GM's, head coaches, players, personnel etc. There is only one constant through all of those years, once you realize the one constant, you will know where I believe the problem lies.

Drudgery. To dredge (v.) is to dig, gather or pull from the bottom. Dredging. Funny how certain words can be used for the same purpose. GM work is drudgery. The GM dredges for players. Keim is doing okay these days. He will soon ask for that big pay raise and I'm sure Mike will cut the check.

He put that Patrick Peterson money to good use!

He put that Patrick Peterson money to good use! I also sure that PP now on IR also is putting the Vikings 1-year millions to good use. I sure would be investing all of it in my family's future. Oct 18th, ESPN: The Vikings placed Peterson (hamstring) on injured reserve Monday. Peterson was initially diagnosed with cramps after being forced out of Sunday's overtime win over the Panthers, but it appears that he's dealing with a more serious issue. The veteran cornerback will be forced to miss at least three games while on IR, but head coach Mike Zimmer hinted that he could end up missing more time by saying "we don't believe" Peterson's injury is season-ending,

To see that you're a fan despite that. This is kinda bleak. Do you have more faith in the son? He seems to not be afraid to spend money.

Do you have more faith in the son? As a recent recruit I am fortunate not to carry any historical baggage. - I like Michael J. Bidwill as our owner/ club figurehead. I am not blaming anyone for holding a differing view and (no doubt) he has made many a mistake during his tenure. However, from what I can tell the Cardinals have not reached the pinnacle in recent times for the wont of trying. 'Keep the Faith' and your patience and perseverance will one day be rewarded...

Kurt Warner doesn't always have the nicest things to say but his brutal honesty is appreciated. He often says you're only as good as your last game, make the plays you're supposed to make. Totally applied to Cards this last victory and applies to any GM, player, coach, etc. It's a tough business but winning that SB ring is priceless.

Keims is one of those tenured GMs that has had the rare ability to build up a team, see it decline, and rebuild again (though that took two tries). This probably has to qualify as one of his best years in AZ. Lets see how this phase goes long term

It took brass balls to realize he made a mistake with Wilks & Rosen. Then go out on a limb & hire Kliff then draft KM!!! I’d wager he would be the only GM in the league to do such a thing. Not being done there but made the greatest trade since hershal walker. And he ratified that by having one the best off-seasons in Cards history. Yeah SK is managing like an elite GM (plus his player acquisitions are performing at pro bowl levels) granted there has been a couple stumbles but without a doubt he’s the best GM in the league now. BTW Thanxs for posting that 😉

I'm with vwvectors on this more like a fat hog stumbling on some acorns more than elite. Only thing that screams elite is his value per meal at Golden Corral or elite gravy eating skills.

Keim has always done well in free agency, but his drafts have been mediocre. Until he can demonstrate a proven record of drafting well, you can't really call him a good GM. Yes, we are having a great season, but he is also the same guy who led to us having the worst record in the league three years ago. At the end of the day, I'm going to judge him by the results. I will wait until the end of the season to pass final judgement. Even with this season, I think he could have done more like acquire another player at the trade deadline like a defensive lineman or offensive lineman to add depth.
That being said, you are what your record says you are. IF Keim helps us win a Superbowl this year, you have to give him credit because it was decisions that helped this team win. At the end of the day, it always comes down to results..
Interestingly, I had a chance to meet Steve Keim and speak with him for a good 15 minutes. (True Story LOL) This was before the start of the season. I asked him about the inside running game and what was he going to fix that. He said James Connor will change that. He said we've never had a big back that could run inside and break tackles and gain short yardage. And he said his most prized signing or move was convincing Matt Prater to move here. He said Prater's wife was an ex-Cardinals cheerleader and wanted to return to the Valley and that helped him choose to come to Arizona. With regard to the Rodney Hudson trade, I asked him about that and actually complimented him on that move. He said two other teams were also trying to trade for him but he has a good relationship with Mike Mayock and that's what led to the Raiders trading Hudson to us vs another team.
Steve Keim in real life is kind of a cool guy. He is a regular guy who talks your buddy you hang out with. When he was talking about the trades and signings, he was telling me all the funny behind the scenes stuff and gossip that goes into making these deals. Nothing unusual but it's the same stuff that all of us deal with in our lives (knowing people, forming good relationships, calling on those people when you need their help). He was not his normal stonewall flat robot non-informative cliche self that you hear on radio interviews. The other funny thing is I was actually bigger than Steve Keim. On TV, he looks like the Kingpin from Daredevil. He looks like this huge fat guy. In real life, he is bald but he is not that big or rotund or large. Sure he is not trim but he is not this obese or even really this overweight guy. He also wore Dior shoes. He is for sure cocky and talks a lot like a realtor or sales guy. We all have friends like that but overall a cool guy. Don't always agree with his decisions but I enjoyed speaking with him.
