FLCardinalFan I am so sorry to hear about David Johnson and his struggles with depression. I am now sorry for the things that I have conveyed and said about him and his play without knowing what he was dealing and struggling with. I guess that this is another situation and circumstance where we do not know what someone else in dealing with. I wish him and his family all the best for the future and hope that he gets the opportunity deal with his depression and move forward. The reason that I empathize with David Johnson and his struggles with depression is because I have had the same challenges and issues to deal with.

He is fortunate to still be in the NFL earning millions. He can afford the best physicians and psychiatrists in the business. Todd Gurley who was in the same draft class as David Johnson and yet he is not even in the NFL.

When David Johnson is released next off-season, I wouldn't mind the Cardinals bringing him back for at least a look at camp. It must really eat at him being told he could be a Hall of Fame running back and not even getting close to living up to that.

The reason that I empathize with David Johnson and his struggles with depression is because I have had the same challenges and issues to deal with. Like you I am sorry for to hear about his problems and struggles with depression. I am here for you Zeke anytime. Much of my childhood was terrible 14 foster homes will do that too you. But I made it and survived. So, anytime anyplace we'll get through this. I will say this about you because I know you well. You weren't talking about David Johnson as a person, you were upset about his play on the field. I never heard a malicious word. It was always about his performance at running back. There is a difference there. We never know what people are dealing with. We all have our demons in one form or another. Here is one of the greatest stories about what people are dealing with in their lives Of all people, to get this right is Dave Chappelle the famous comedian. Here is his story of Daphne ( Caution it contains some vulgar language) It is an extremely sad story but beautiful in the way Dave tells us. This video is captivating in ways you won't believe. Its a message to us all and especially to those woke individuals who think they know it all. "Empathy works both ways" "THAT IS WHY SHE WAS MY FRIEND" Dave Chapelle

Would love to be depressed with a 30 million dollar guarantee contract and no real financial worries. I have been diagnosed clinically depressed myself a few years back and trust me, I would of loved for it due to having issues playing professional football... NFL is a business, a lot of players go through what he has gone through. They are paid very well for a reason.

As an adult who suffered from poverty and child abuse as a child and depression my entire life I understand some of what David Johnson is going through. However I do want to add that in spite of the obstacles that were in my life I went to work and did my job once I became of working age and did not let my depression or other issues affect my job performance. David Johnson makes millions of dollars of year to carry a football. Depressed or not he should do his job.

This Revelation about David Johnson brings to mind a question. From a Strictly Business standpoint why do employers not investigate when an employee performance is not up to par. Especially an NFL owner who can afford to provide whatever counseling is needed for a player who has physical abilities but might have some mental issues. Another example that is happening right now is the mess between Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers. They're paying him 30 + million dollars a year. to me that's an investment worth spending some more money on fixing his head

Some of my thoughts on DJ's situation:
Clinical depression is a serious matter and treatment can help.
Money hardly ever buys happiness but can make life easier.
Spending money on healthcare can be a good investment.

There is a responsibility to own up to the commitments you make and the money an organization gives you. Depressed or not he was great before signing the contract , took the money and decided to fall down at contact. I suspect his wife is behind a lot of this. She has mentioned how desperate they were to have David sign the contract and then all the worries about long lasting injuries. David Johnson suffered one bad injury. And that wasnt so bad , a broken wrist. He never lived up to the talent he was blessed with. Yet continues to take money. If he was truly depressed he should retire and stop his stealing.

After all we are years into his miserable performances and he's now out of his prime. There is ZERO chance DJ has the pride to come back and prove people wrong. He got PAID and took a dump.

I really do feel for the guy, he always seemed like a good person. This is why, if I was a professional athlete, I would entirely avoid the internet and media.
That being said, I’d love to know what the hell happened. I was honestly willing to give him a pass when he was in the god awful Mike McCoy offense, but then even the following year, with a completely new scheme, it was more of the same. Just going down at first contact, over and over, no stiff arms, no aggression, just a completely different guy. And obviously the front office noticed too, I wish him well though, he’s still an elite athlete, I’d like to see him have some more success before he hangs it up

From what I got out of the article he was depressed because things were not going well at “work”. Well that’s true he got the injury bug & has some not good coaches but also took a lot plays off (especially after he got paid not the 1st or last to do this). I feel like this guy has life by the balls he has a beautiful healthy family has fleeced errr earned over 30+ mil bucks acquiring a generational wealth the majority of people will never see. He got caught up in greatest trade since Hershel Walker & hasn’t lived up to expectations no matter what team he was on. Depressed, I think more like victim hood instead.

I have a great deal of empathy for anyone who struggles emotionally. It's a health issue regardless of how much money someone makes.
