Per link:
Phillips was due $10 million in salary this season. The Cardinals converted $6,507,222 of that into a bonus he has been paid and they added another two void years to the back end of his contract to lower this year’s cap hit. Per Yates, it frees up more than $5.2 million in cap space, nearly what Ertz is due the rest of the year.

Wondering how we squeezed in Ertz. Per OTC (unsure if updated)-Phillips salary is 100% guaranteed next season? Anyone else confirm if that's accurate. He has to be rated one of the worse FA signings under SK, but maybe the FO thinks he's healthy now and will solve our need in the middle against the rush...
Btw awesome GIF CS.

I'd be curious to see how Phillips graded out. I thought he played well and I'd keep him another year or two if he can stay on the field. He's a big force to deal with if he wants to play.

PFF graded Phillips at a very good - 80.2; What I want Sunday is for Cards to get an early lead and increase # of snaps for Phillips but especially Zaven Collins. Both Lawrence - Hicks did not practice again and could use the rest before the Thursday game vs. Packers.

Is everyone ready to dump Philips the same crew that wanted to dump Alford? How about we see how he finishes the season before we clamor for cuts.

Jordan was not worth the production which is why steve went to HIM first. If they trade for Howard. Guess whose he’s going to next to do the same thing? I’m all for bringing back if they take the contract that Robert received .

Guess whose he’s going to next to do the same thing? I’m all for bringing back if they take the contract that Robert received . There is zero chance that Phillips now takes a 'minimum vet' type deal. He is due an awful lot of money (as a result of the original contract that he signed) and the reschedule is simply a 'moving of that money around' so that less is paid out on the books this year. If anything (I may be reading things wrong mind) Phillips is almost guaranteed to be on the roster in the 2022 season and probably 2023 as well and these will be on re-scheduled terms. At that point, depending on how things are (his performance level, injury/ availability situation), then maybe Phillips will want to continue with his career and accept a low-level contract. Alternatively, he could just be done and retire. Should we have signed Jordan Phillips in the first place is an entirely different (and now hypothetical) question. We certainly need someone like him (especially with Corey Peters on the wain), but as I've commented before these big-money signings always carry a high degree of financial risk. This is especially so where the player is 'non-elite' and his performance capabilities are not fully appreciated and any personal considerations are not understood. Like it or lump it, I think the Cardinals are now wedded to Jordan for the next part (and possibly the remainder) of his career. I am not buying these stories of him being 'lazy' or 'feigning injury' as we all have no idea what's going on behind the scenes. Yes, his output on game day so far has been a disappointment, no doubt to all, but that doesn't mean he hasn't been busting his guts rehabbing and trying to get back to where he needs to be. Also, crucially, it doesn't mean that he wont be successful and a big asset going forward. For anyone out there who is very much down on Jordan Phillips then I would say just don't give up the hope...!

According to OTC Phillips makes about $26M for two years (2020-21) or $30M for three (2020-22). With restructuring there is a dead cap hit of $5.9M in 2023 that covers void years (2023-25) no matter if he plays three or is cut after two years. The original three years for $30M has a savings of four million in cap space in 2022 of four million if cut pre-June of 2022.
SK has given Phillips the best opportunity to succeed in the rest of 2021. SK also laid the exit for him in pre-June 2022 if the flop continues on course.
The question I have is : How did Phillips pass team physical after signing? Phillips missed most of 2020 and all but one game in 2021 so far.

Does Phillips get paid for the entire contract value if he is determined to be not physically fit? I bet the team is considering an injury settlement in order to end this charade.

Doesn’t say, but post June trade or cut 2022 would save team $10M in 2022 and $2.6M in 2023 so he better have a big impact in 2021 or he is gone after June 2022. Originally contract was $14.5M guaranteed so if a cut happens post June 2022 he gained $3M more in guarantees by restructuring. Get’s cap space for Erts so win win
