I think we're not even beginning to realize how big of a deal this is for the Cardinals. This is the best TE this team has had in I don't know how long. I'll put up a list of the "best" TEs in recent years to help illustrate this point.
Ben Patrick. Mike Leach. Jim Dray. Rob Housler. Todd Heap. Darren Fells. (Kinda wish we didn't let him go) Troy Niklas. (BUST) Jermaine Gresham. Ricky Seals-Jones.
And then Maxx Williams who wasn't utilized properly until this year. There's no doubt we'd anoint Maxx as the best Cardinal TE in recent memory if he never got injured and kept producing at the rate he was. In fact, prior the the Ertz trade, that honor might have still gone to him in the 4 and a half weeks he played. That's how bad the TE situation for AZ was.

In the Cards Please note that Mike Leach was a long snapper and not a TE.

In the Cards I am not sure that is correct based on the following link from the Cardinals site. www.azcardinals.com/news/mike-leach-calls-it-a-career-16752797Cardinals long snapper Mike Leach walks off the University of Phoenix Stadium field with his son, Ryan, after Leach's final home game of his career, the Cards' Wild Card victory over Green Bay. The one thing that I do remember about Mike Leach was that his name was never mentioned during a game and I do not recall him making any bad snaps !
