Welcome! I am involved on both, but Reddit is for more superficial discussion and memes while message boards like this are better for discussion over the weeks and months of a season.

This is a good assessment. I like the reddit board. It has a different feel. More for fun vs official message boards.

Yeah the Reddit dudes are pretty funny calling us old guys.
I also prefer the forum just due to it felling like more of a community.

I like how positive it’s been so far...so little name calling and fighting over little things! I’m sure it will kick back up game one of pre season, but the new Wilks regime, Rosen QBOF draft and new board seem to be bringing some long term optimism we’ve been missing for years now!

I think shutting the board down made a common enemy for us all. Not that anyone is angry at the org. just that everyone is bummed about it going away.

I think shutting the board down made a common enemy for us all. Not that anyone is angry at the org. just that everyone is bummed about it going away. I'm only bummed about the loss of records data. There were some choice exchanges buried in the archives. Some reputations will be destroyed along with the data. That's probably healthy for everyone, including sometimes low wattage me! The new Forum is taking advantage of next generation software and almost unconstrained use of it. I note no complaints yet, just many plaudits for the speed of Forum transition and its new look. The timing of the forum transition was about as perfect as it can get. Imagine if that had occurred a couple weeks before the draft! We've got about 100 days now, from date of closure announcement to the first PS game, to bulk up the Forum roster and complete our version of Forum summer camp.

there was probably a good reason, like liability. make a recent fcc or law change made them responsible legally for stuff they hosted or let be posted on their site, and you don't want liability for stuff you have no control / consent over until its posted. a major corp will be under much more liability because they have more resources, lawyers, etc... they will be told not knowing no excuse, that with their resources they should have known. msn got rid of its boards and chat rooms long ago. so did espn. hosting text files cant be nearly as expensive as videos etc....so it has to be liability.
a small board like this will be given more leniency because they don't have an army of IT people and lawyers, it will be treated as an amateur product not a professional one and held to pro standards.

I have always hated Reddit.. I just never liked the way it's set up. Maybe I am just stuck in my ways, but I have always found forums much easier to follow.
There are a few reddit's that I occasionally read, but I never post on them. Just not my thing.. this is better.
