How many coaches have truly adapted to the talent on the field? We hear that phrase being thrown around so often yet it is rarely implemented. Wilks told the press he could coach a 3-4 or a 4-3 and would pick the system that would best fit his players. Wilks does the very opposite and runs a 4-3 despite the talent not fitting that system. Mike McCoy was bragged about by the front office and media with how he adapts his system to the players. We didn't see that at all. We have a horrible offensive line and he still ran plays that required lineman to hold their blocks or engage in pulls on run plays that required time to develop. Even our beloved BA kept trying to run playaction with no inside running game and deep passing plays with receivers who couldn't make big plays downfield in 2016 and 2017. Instead of spreading the ball and having WR's run quick outs to take advantage of speed in the open field, BA had them run go patterns and the safeties were able to play deep.
Now we are hearing how Leftwich will adapt his system to the talent on the field. What I've learned in all of these cases is the coach does anything but adapt his system. Coaches are stubborn and arrogant. They want to fit a square peg in a round hole. They want players to fit their system not vice versa. But it makes for good press to say they will adapt their system to the players.
I'm really hopeful that Leftwich is not another coach who will run the offense he wants and try to get the players to fit his system while telling the media the opposite.

What's Rosen's relationship like with Leftwich? Trust each other? We don't know much there.
Both are open books regarding personalities. No dominance or arrogance either way. Smart duo.
I think Leftwich will maintain a low profile and put Rosen and Johnson in best positions to excel.
Limelight will switch ON if the O line manufactures positives and team gets some wins.
Meanwhile, the coaches are pretty much stuck with the current roster talent. Not much on PS rosters to buy.

Once I heard on 98.7 that the 1st qtr vs. the Bears in which the two opening drives TD's were PLAYS LEFTWICH PUT IN THE SCRIPTED PLAYS - THEY WERE NOT MCCOY CALLS ... once I heard that I am pleased Leftwich is now the OC. I also heard yesterday Leftwich will be lining up DJ as a WR vs. LB's -- the most obvious mismatch the offense can create... see how BA (Leftwich QB coach) used DJ out wide (how come WR screens to C. Williams or JJ Nelson never go for more than 6 yds ??) -- DJ WR Screen - No one touches him
Other than the bomb to Kirk vs. 49ers, the best called plays of the year have been these:
Bottom Line: I am sick and tired of coaches who think their SCHEME is so darn superior compared to just putting the ball in your most talented players hands ... this also goes for the defense as I need to see more Bucannon who in the past has been very effective doing both run and pass blitzes thru the "A" gap and creating sacks or TFL's.

Total agreement. This BS from Holcomb and Wilks about Buc making too many mistakes is just that BS.
Holcomb is now just as suspect for a coordinator as McCoy was. His D scheme suxz but Wilks won't make any changes there. Players are the scapegoats again.
