I attended the game in LA two weeks ago. I had a chance to meet Michael Bidwill and talk to him for a good 15-20 minutes. First of all, I want to say we are really lucky to have an owner like him. He is passionate. He reminds me of a young Jerry Jones. He lives and breathes football. But the positive I took away from that discussion is when I mentioned re-building, he did not like that term at all and it wasn't even on his mind. He truly built this team to win this year. Maybe he was unrealistic, but he was emphatic that his intent is to compete. And it was genuine. When I mentioned rebuilding, it was like telling a kid that Santa wasn't real
But I loved that. It tells me he is not just trying to pass the time. The guy wants to win! He is passionate. So if we have a horrible season, I know he will make changes. I may not trust the GM but I trust our owner.
One last thing, the guy is truly a good person. The reason for our struggles is he is loyal to fault. He wants to give people a chance. He wants certain people to win for them. So you have to admire that. I came away from that really proud to have him as our owner. I think with a guy like that, we will ultimately win.

I"m glad he had passion but that can often be misdirected.
The fact that he thought we could win with a team like this shows me there is a real cognitive dissonance here. And I put that on the people he has hired. They are the football "experts" and tell the owner what he wants to hear.
The signing of Sam Bradford is the focal point to this. I called it a public relations signing this summer. A big name who would never produce anything here. He was long gone for doing that . I must concede I did not think he was this bad.
Keim is the football "expert" who puts this team together and there lies the problem. When you patch up a lineup to win "now" you get what we have. The good thing about us being by far the worse team in the NFL is that it should sober up the upper management of this team. And yes that is a good pun to use. We are now in rebuild mode by default.
I'd like to see Michael have the balls to wipe the slate clean going into the draft. We cant have Keim handling things anymore. And this coaching staff simply does not have the DNA to ever be elite. Do you want mediocrity? Keep them. At some point we'll be 8-8 again and having the fans sip the cup of optimism.

Optimist will be optimistic.. their glass is always half full.
There are good reasons to be optimistic about the Cardinals. Unfortunately the optimism I have this season are based on a high draft pick in next years draft..

There was not a massive purge in talent from last year's 8-8 squad. So I never looked at this season as a typical "rebuild" effort. Not sure how spending on Bradford fits the rebuild profile, as he was brought in before Rosen. I expect this team to be competitive. So should all of our management including ownership.
If this team struggles to get to 4 wins, all hired personnel should be held accountable.
Bidwill will need to show that he is not happy with failed progress at season's end to hold my respect.
We could have a much different team at season's end as opposed to what we have witnessed thusfar.
Let's hope.
