VJ made a statement that shocked me. He was asked about how no runner had gone over 100 yards on his defense, and what did that mean. He said that stopping the run wasn’t a big priority anymore! That the NFL is now a passing league and that is his concern. He went on to say if the other team wants to run the ball 30 times and get 150 yards that is good with him. He felt he could just shut down the run with more men in the box. I wonder if the Niners heard that interview, because that is exactly what they did.
First of all stopping the run is not like flipping a light switch. Anything but, had work and practice. Second, the common belief is that you must stop the run to force the passing game. If you let the other team run 30 times how much time does that take off the game? Same amount that KM must watch on bench. You can bet that the Rams will test this new VJ philosophy big time with heavy runs.

With Goff injured we had better be ready to stop the run.

Stopping the run is no 1 priority in this game. Make this Wolford guy beat us with his arm.

Hate to hear about QB Goff's thumb injury, but Goff's injury changes nothing in the Cardinals locker room and severe team issues.
Do the Cardinals want to win or not? What will change in that locker room that fixes the multiple mental errors by individuals, the it's-all-about-me attitudes, and true teamwork? Right now, I doubt the Cardinals starters could beat #2 QB Chris Streveler if he was to suit up as the Rams starting QB next weekend.
The Cardinals coaches also need to ask themselves if they are committed to building a team or building a resume. This team is out of time for training. It's put up time, or shut up and go home.

Never, never, never reveal strategies and plans to the enemy.

Yes, this was said before the Niners game in his press conference. Totally and no wonder the Niners destroyed us. Yes, it’s basically a passing league but the best way to win games is running the ball and stopping the run. If I have learned anything in watching football the last 60 years it’s that.

Notes from NFL.COM on December 28th:
The ARZ @ LA game was not flexed into "Sunday Night Football" per rumor. The NFL instead moved Washington-Philadelphia into that spot. The Cardinals-Rams, which will be televised on CBS, will kick off at 2:25 p.m. Arizona time in the late window.
If the Cardinals beat LA, they are 'in.' Simple math. Hard problem.

I gave myself almost a 48 hr "cooling off" period before posting as I couldn't believe what I saw on Saturday. Observations/Items I saw on Saturday which must be corrected next Sunday -
- Cards lead the NFL in false starts with 32 and the next worst team are the Eagles with 27. The Patriots have FIVE all year... heck Mason Cole has this many in just the last 2 games.
- OL has been improved but the item above and the fact this OL cannot push the DL back a yard in order to just run the ball on 3rd or 4th and 1 ... this is a MAJOR problem.... Saturday - 4 and 16 on 3rd downs !!!
- Christian Kirk -- his size and KM's height appear to result in catches ONLY outside the #'s where KM can see him more easily. Of course Kirk dropped a pass at back of end zone early this game and at the goal line vs. the Dolphins that would have probably flipped both games to the win column ... UNACCEPTABLE when you get both hands on the ball.
- Did Beathard throw the ball farther than 20 yds the entire game ?? .. every Card fan knew prior to game 49ers would run the ball and throw to Kittle while sprinkling in some screen passes.
- VJ the Rams are going to do the exact same thing with a backup QB so have your safeties play within 20 yds of the line of scrimmage to "squeeze the field" vs. a backup QB -- make his eyes see less open space short.
- Wilson circle route out of the backfield on LB Campbell was the IDENTICAL TD play from the 1st game of the season vs. Isaiah Simmons ... you gotta be kidding me !!!!!!
- Refs -- don't believe Dan Arnold's fumble was an accurate call and my goodness - Hopkins had their CB's grab with BOTH hands around his waist at least 6-8 times in that game Saturday.
- KK -- you can't go for it on 4th down on your own 35 yd line when at that point it is a 2 pt game !!! shows desperation to other team rather than confidence in your offense.
- KK - so far the teams in your division (49ers/Seahawks) were able to throttle your offense and deliver losses when the first time around the offense played well and you won the game ... don't let McVay embarrass you and the team on Sunday.
- KK - pleaee run the ball more to start game and get your OL/RB in rhythm .. then go to some play action including putting KM under center.

Just the last comment I strongly disagree with. We can't run the ball. Drake can only muster 2 yards per carry.

OK STV, Let's dive into your bullet points 1. False starts I wonder if something about this can be written into a contract. That might fix some players. Seriously this is a major problem as it creates too many 3rd and longs. 2. This line has no strength from the inside G-C-G < weakest in the NFL short yardage runs = 0 or -1 or -2 3. Kyler Murray needs to learn to slide in the pocket. He also needs to bootleg and roll out. Jared Goff beat us that way. So did Beathard. 4. Obviously stv YOU DIDNT LSITEN TO our coaching staff Beathard was really Joe Montana out there. They had no idea how to handle this new QB. 5. Play the Safeties up like you said 6. This is my favorite OK So they dont want FLCF's favorite Defensive player against Wilson. Why because he got beat by Raheem Mostert whois faster than Wilson Solution: Same Play The 49ers have a slower runningback Wilson instead of Mostert in on the play. Vance Joseph say I''ll show them We will put DeVondre Campbell who can't cover a bed spread much less a RB. Lets put our slower linebacker on the runningback. Problem Solved 7. The call went against Dan Arnold because of all the other calls hehadon him He must be guilty. 8. Refs dont like DeAndre Hopkins. He is not Fitz as far as they care. 9. Going for it on 4th down at your own 32 Might as well go for it on your own 2 At least you get the ball back quicker and can score. 10 McVay is 6-0 or 7-0 vs the Cardinals But this is a Covid year 11. WE DO need to establish the run Drake has slowed down though Kyler needs to work on play action. stv good job I may have missed 1 or 2
