.... when was the last time the Cards excited our fan base by making a big move to acquire a top player who could help turn our franchise into more of a winner? Excluding the draft and the 'small' move we made to get Rosen, when did we last get aggressive, go after a top player, and pay the price it took to get him? And let's not count old Bill's habit of bringing washed up named players in to have a dog and pony press conference to sell a few more tickets. To be honest, I am struggling to think of any. I can only think of some we let go so other teams would 'bid' on them.

I'll throw a couple in... most recently Carson Palmer. Arians rode to town declaring his man Stanton was starting QB material. Then Raiders happened and it's Palmer instead. Now, moving on, Edgerrin James. Not necessarily at his prime, but still quite serviceable. I remember it blew up the old message board when news of the signing came out.
Honorable mention goes to the Kevin Kolb deal. Now before everyone starts throwing popcorn let's put ourselves back in the summer of 2011. Two years of Anderson/Hall/Jughead ooops I mean Skelton. We bagged the elephant! The top available QB is OURS! A Super Bowl bound we are! Whoops. But it was a big deal and made to win.

Kolb was the closest I can remember also.. AP was not a big deal..don’t forget mr. Jones though, that was a pretty big trade.. and the only one that worked out in the cards favor..

After we went to the AFC Championship game we traded for Chandler Jones to get an effective pass rusher.

Nobody gets too excited about signing Olinemen, but both Pugh and Iupati were aggressive signings to shore up our line. Veldheer was a great signing at the time as well, and we didn't pay a ton to get him.
