Heartbroken to say the least as an avid St. Louis Cardinal's fan. My Grandpa along with my father took me and my younger brother to see Brock swipe 115 and 116 in 'cookie cutter' BuschII against the Pirates back in '74. Lou would eventually set a single season stolen base record 3 days later against the Cubs in Chicago. Another reminder of sweet memories and my own mortality. RIP Lou.

This is really sad to hear. I live about 80 miles north of St Louis and back in the 70's, I was not only football Cardinal fan but a baseball Cardinal fan as well.
I remember his record breaking year like it was yesterday. It was a big deal, maybe not as big as a home run record but close.

I remember that trade. At the time everyone in the Lou was asking Lou who ? Might be the greatest trade in the other Cards history. A sore armed pitcher for a future HOFer. Love it when we fleece the baby bears.....

When my brother died in 1977, his widowed wife remarried to a STL Cardinals baseball pitcher. She still remained a good family friend to my family for many decades. She also became part of the STL Cardinals wives network in the 70s and 80s. Through my brother's widow, my family learned much about the STL players' personal lives. Lou Brock was an absolutely wonderful person and great ambassador for many good causes.
September 6, 2020. The world misses Mr. Louis Brock. RIP.
