The San Fransisco 49ers Offensive Line
You have to respect what John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan have done with this franchise. I admired John Lynch when he played locally here in Florida with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was all out and a great player. 49er Strengths: The 49ers are very good in the trenches and may have one of the best defensive lines in the NFL. Offensive Line: Trent Williams shores up the left tackle side after the retirement of Joe Staley. The 49ers signed him in the off season after Williams sat out the entire 2019 season in a contract dispute with the Team from Washington D.C. Mike McGlinchey is the starting right tackle. He missed several games last season due to injury and needs to show improvement. Laken Tomlinson Left Guard TOMLINSON struggled in pass protection last season see the article below. His work was very sub par Almost 4 sack average At Center is Weston Richburg He is coming of a serious knee injury from 2019 and Ben Garland is his backup Garland could see a lot of playing time should Richburg have problems returning. Right Guard: Daniel Brunskill He allowed only one sack last year and did well filling in for Staley Brunskill played both guard and tackle last season. Here is the link to their Offensive line: www.49erswebzone.com/commentary/2411-projecting-san-francisco-49ers-offensive-line-2020-season/From lineups.com the 49ers depth chart < great website Has the depth charts and all: www.lineups.com/nfl/depth-charts/san-francisco-49ers

San Francisco 49ers Defensive Line: The 49ers were the Second best defense in the NFL in 2019 and this unit is responsible for that ranking. Arik Armstead is back at LDE Armstead had his best season in 2019 He sacked the opposing QB 10 times & had a career high in tackles. Nick Bosa Was Defensive rookie of the year in 2019. He made the Pro Bowl his 1st year Where Bosa really shined was in the post season he had 4 QB sacks. Dee Ford: He had knee surgery in the off season Ford was part of the pass rushing due with Bosa with 6.5 sacks. He was limited in 2019 due to injury and missed several games. Look for him to rebound in 2020. Javon Kinlaw Great Upside My concern with Kinlaw during the draft process was his history of injuries and how that translates to the NFL. He had tendonitits in his knee. He missed he Senior Bowl last year due to that problem. One injury that is of more concern is his hip injury which was a torn labrum which he had surgery for. There have also been back problems. If he overcomes all those previous setbacks we are in for some real scary play versus Our Cardinals. You have to love his spirit after being homeless at one time to earning a 1st round draft pick of 14th overall. What should worry the 49ers is the Cardinals Quadruplets forget the Duo or Triplets as in paper we have the BEST Quadruplets ever. Kyler Murray rookie of the year. Kenyan Drake who had over a 5 yd per rush avg last season. DeAndre Hopkins and Larry Fitzgerald voted on Cris Carter’s list of top 5 sure hands and the only 2 presently playing the game as the other 3 were Jerry Rice, Randy Moss and Steve Largent. Kyler throwing the ball the way he does I don’t expect that to deteriorate.
Fun fact: Jerry Rice’s Dad was a bricklayer and use to throw bricks to Jerry Rice to catch like a football. Could you imagine missing a brick and hitting you in the head.

I had heard something about that many years ago but never paid attention to it. Good job!

PART III Now that we have talked about Jimmy Garopollo and the offensive and defensive lines of the 49ers I'm going to take a break from their coverage to go over The Cardinals defense and stopping the 49ers offense. 1. A good offense will help make a great defense Our poor 3rd down conversion rate hurt us last year We ranked 29th in red zone scoring percentage. Too often we stalled inside the 20 and were limited to a Zane Gonzalez Field Goal. The up tempo offense is great but The Cardinals have to execute on the field and improve in both conversions and inside the red zone. This will keep the defense fresh ad strong. 2. We had to go out and improve the defensive line I look for Jordan Phillips DeVondre CAMPBELL Isaiah Simmons Zach Allen, Leki Fotu, Rashard Lawrence and Of course Corey Peters to help improve our defense vs the run. 3. With DeVondre Campbell, Devon Kennard and Isaiah Simmons our tight end coverage should be much better. 4. Our secondary has Robert Alford back and Kliff Kingsbury pointed out how hard he has worked in the off season to get back ready to play Day 1. We have Patrick Peterson back for the full season Is he really back strong. That will be answered soon. Byron Murphy should play slot corner. He was in over his head when forced to play in Alford and Peterson's place. 5. Jalen Thompson has also been mentioned as a player who really came on strong in the secondary last season. We got a steal here in the 5th rd of the supplemental draft. Here is a link to Jalen Thompson looking great this season www.azcardinals.com/news/vance-joseph-jalen-thompson-definitely-the-answer-at-safety DeVondre Campbell On a Prove it deal arizonasports.com/story/2300978/cardinals-ilb-devondre-campbell-expects-big-things-prove-it-deal/Devon Kennard Excited to be in AZ www.si.com/nfl/cardinals/news/devon-kennard-excited-phoenix-amid-coronavirus

Part III Continued We can't talk about defense without talking about Budda Baker. He is still getting rave reviews even in this off season. from azcardinals.com the latest on Budda Baker www.azcardinals.com/news/budda-baker-is-turning-heads-including-his-ownChandler Jones: All the talk in themedia is about Chandler breaking the single season sack record in the NFL. I haven't posted much about this because Chandler is more about the team winning than he is a personal accomplishment. What I like about his 2020 season is It is going to be hard for teams to just block Chandler with help coming from Phillips up the middle Devon Kennard, Isaiah Simmons and Budda Baker.

When the 49ers have the FootballThe 49ers have a lot of question marks at WR as the season opens. Travis Benjamin opted out as Deebo Samuel is not ready to return from his injury. The talk in camp is 1st rder WR Brando Aiyuk needs a lot of work and reps. Running game: Raheem Mostert should see a lot of action as he led the way with over 5.6 yards per carry in 2019. Tevin Coleman may get cut before the season starts due to salary cap implications ninernoise.com/2020/05/01/breaking-49ers-running-back-depth-chart-post-2020-nfl-draft/3/Look for the 49ers to run the ball a lot more in 2020. They were second in the NFL behind the Baltimore Ravens with 144 yards per game. George Kittle : Not much more to say about the best tight end in the NFL. His 75 million dollar contract sets the mark for future tight ends. With their WR position in flux, look for the tight ends and runningbacks to play a big role in their short to intermediate passing game.

Has Garapolo every had a bad game against the Cardinals defense? I don't think he ever stunk up the place at a Cardinals game. Somehow, he always seemed to find the open receivers. Last year's 3rd down Defensive failure rates cannot be repeated in 2020. No more all out blitzes either. I still remember DE Jones falling down, trying to play MLB, Safety, and CB by himself on a blitz call, and the receiver easily beat the one guy, Jones, for 6.

I will never forget that play Chandler can't cover speedy backs or tight ends. We blitzed 38.1 % of the time last season I think we were in the top 3 teams blitzing. Devon Kennard is more of a blizing linebacker. Detroit rarely blitzed last year so that was one reason I read from their media sources that he was let go.

Reading all of this is getting me excited. This game is only four weeks away and its starting to feel like it might actually happen.....knock on wood... With the lack of a preseason, I do think it will be a sloppy game for both teams. Hell, even the officials may be out of sink. Still, I think we can be dangerous. Its going to be hard for the 49ers to prepare for us with KK and KM having a year under their belts and not to mention our shiny new all pro WR. Of course that won't matter if Vance Joseph doesn't prove he deserves to be a defensive coordinator. Fingers crossed on that.

In today's NFL receivers make a big difference especially in an offense that K2 likes to run. I truly believe Cee Dee Lamb was on the Cards board as much as Andrew Thomas might have been as well as the best defensive player, Simmons. This could affect how much the 49ers run effectively until Samuel returns and that could be until week 5 or so. Teams are going to stack the box and force them to throw more. No Hurd, no Sanders, Samuel has a foot injury.
