Larry Centers was and is fantastic!!!! I remember that Monday night game at SDS where he hurdled over Larry Brown of the Cowboys- I think this was the game that they were filming for Jerry Macquire movie
Went to the stadium early for the Superbowl in Tampa and he was walking around taking pictures - talked to him a bit and got a picture with him.
A group of Cardinal fans walked up after and asked who he was and I was like "WHAT?" had to give them crap for not knowing who he was
You live for those moments bbbdy
I would love to have been there
even if I was watching you get the picture
taken without me.
My few favorites
As a highschool kid I got to talk to Jim Hart
and Dan Dierdorf on the phone.
KMOX had such a strong signal I could listen
all the way do here in Florida.
The staff at KMOX put me right through
for calling long distance. I asked them
what their most gratifying moments as a Cardinal
were? They were still playing. This was in 1975
They said stepping out on the field for the first time as a Cardinal.
Years later I went out with friends to Hart And Dierdorf's
in St Louis. Nice restaurant.
Next It was 1977 I got to meet Joe Gibbs
when the Cardinals came down to Tampa
Joe had some friends he knew on the sideline
They knew his wife and kids. He came over
I was just standing there next to his friends
I got the whole story Because Joe thought I was a friend of the guy's son
So he talked freely. I knew Coryell was going to get fired.
Joe Gibbs said My guy knows where he stands and thats it.
Something about it doesnt look good. These were real close family friends
He was speaking of Don Coryell. The Cardinals lost that game
and Coryell was fired right after.
George Boone and Bill Bidwill messed that whole
team up.
My fondest was meeting Kurt Warner at a luncheon at
Southeastern University in my hometown of Lakeland.
Kurt was there and had lunch will several of us.
I was the only one there who knew
much about the Cardinals.
Kurt was funny he told this little rich kid at the table
he was sitting at. "He said you got all this stuff here
you are pretending to be a Cardinal Fan. LOL
He said where is your Super Bowl Jersey or hat.
The kid was embarrassed because his dad bought
the tickets. I said to Kurt I got my right here sir
and started talking to him. I asked him about his Charity
"First Things First" he was really cool open and talkative.
