Freedom of speech. Of course they will be allowed. Try saying “All lives matter” and see how far that gets you with freedom of speech. The murder dude with the modern swastika tatoo on his neck that got the needle at Indiana Fed Pen this morning did not matter to a lot of folks or to me. After being convicted of horrid crimes, he sat on his butt doing nothing for 17 years at taxpayer expense. Okay, I blew away the original idea with a dumb comparison. ALM does matter to me -- except murderers. I also support FoS 100% as you can see from my many posts and support to all kinds of Forum dialogue.

supercard Cardinals Junkie I agree with you that "All Lives Matter" and I also believe that "Black Lives Matter" , "Brown Lives Matter" and "...... Lives Matter". The inclusion and/or exclusion of a particular group of individuals from those expressions and sentiments does not mean that others are not important and valued. I believe that there are racial and ethnic groups in our country whose day to day experiences are very different from those experienced by others in our country. The question I ask of those who express the sentiment of "All Lives Matter" is this your real and true expression and sentiment regarding all of our fellow citizens or is it a very easy and convenient way of making a counterpoint to expressions of "Black Lives Matter" and/or "Brown Lives Matter" to render these as not being real or valid ?

When someone says to me, "All Lives Matter," or "I Don't See Color, I See a Person," I take the remarks for their broader human valuing and not discounts of another's exceptional perspective. I assume a person that values BLM will also value ALM. Does that assumption make sense? The assumption is on me though. I can still ask for a clarification, to ensure other humans are not being excepted or devalued (a definition of discrimination or racism).
I noted at NFL.com that the HQ has still not eliminated the Washington Redskins name and banner. The NFL site is moving way slower than I thought on this issue. Maybe the NFL.com managers are waiting for the new nickname to be announced before deleting the old (offending) nickname.

You want Black lives to matter and All lives to matter. Talk is cheap, Protesting is cheap talk Here is how you make Black Lives Matter and All Lives matter 1. Become a school volunteer 2. Work at a food bank 3. Become part of RIF "Reading is Fundamental 4. volunteer at a Boy's or Girl's club 5. Instead of painting graffiti join habitat for Humanity and paint some elderly person's home 6. Instead of tearing down a statue of someone you know nothing about Plant a garden and donate the food from it. 7. Instead of donating to an organization that is against family structure and has no accountability for where money is spent Donate to one that has accountability and cares about the family structure. An example is Foothills Community Foundation of South Carolina Many states have these type organizations 4 star rating from Charity navigator Local organizations do more and waste less. foothillscommunityfoundation.org/who-we-are/

All the news about the former Washington Redskins is awful. The team and fans cannot catch a break these days. Activists pounced on Snyder for an 80 year old nickname error. 15 FO employs reportedly harassed by managers for several seasons. Team stock is dropping like a rock at Fox, CBS, ESPN. Thus, I predict a few more fans have decided that they won't be seen in public in the 'Skins' jersey, at least not right away. In a few years, folks memories will fade and the 'Skins' jerseys may reappear in stands and on the streets.
I like FLCF's 1-4 ideas above. Do it and a lot of strangers will feel great.

Seems like a good time for an owner IMO. Some of the allegations, if true, are severe. I don't think the fans will miss Snyder anyways. Might be an opportunity to obtain a clean slate. Sucks to be coach Rivera, the guy just got there, and it seems like he already stepped on some rancid crap.

I'm just glad this kind of stuff is not happening with the Cardinals....knock on wood. Being a sports fan is hard enough these days even without these kind of distractions.

Redskins will always be Redskins in my book no matter what they try and change the name to . You cant change the name on a legendary team. They earned that right ...

I've stayed well clear of this discussion/ debate. However,.....
It seams to me that the offense being caused here is because of the name itself and NOT because the emblem being used is that of a native American (If this was not correct then why haven't the Chiefs also come under similar pressure over the years?). - The term 'Redskins' sounds very derogatory to me and I would think it be downright offense to peoples of this heritage.
Looking at a The New York Times article I note that the team way back were called, for a season, the 'Braves'. This term I believes displays these proud people (and in particular their long ago ancestors) in a positive light. What, therefore, might be better than simply re-branding the football club as the 'Washington Braves' - For the native American community that name could then be celebrated and thus their historic significance to the country recognized (and after all Washington is the capital city)?
I wonder whether it is not too late for the football club to reach out and engage with appropriate representatives of the native American community and find a positive way forward. Perhaps a new emblem could be agreed that satisfies all and, yes, celebrates a proud and fearless warrior past that can be seen and demonstrated each and every time 'their football team' runs out onto the field to engage in a modern day-age battle.

Gone from sports pages, but not history. Also, BTW, no one says Snyder must keep HIS team in S. Maryland. Anyway, FEDEX field is a windy, cold, damp, expensive, and fan-unfriendly place in the fall and winter. A 12" hot dog is like $17 now. Crazy. STL is open for business since the Rams split.

I think the original owners intent was to name the team after fierce fighters and associate the idea with his footballers. The association generated historical context which translated into interest, sales and profits. Capitalism 101.
Today's protestors do not want an NFL team to be affiliated with anyone that was marginalized, exploited, enslaved, tortured, villified, killed, and then remembered, honored, and idolized. Protestors do not tolerate profit-making. Socialism 101.
Renaming the Washington team the "Wood Ducks" is my fav. The alliteration works great. The fans and protestors will all be happy -- guaranteed.

Agree, STL is a long-time baseball town. Football just didn't stick, probably because of the constant losing across decades and that the team came from Chicago, a hated rival town for the Cardinals baseball fans. The STL Blues did win the Stanley Cup so now STL is both a baseball and hockey town, I guess we can say. Right? I suppose the one nice thing about living near a large city that does not have an NFL team is the variety of games broadcast each week. Being stuck with a loser team is a drag.
