Hi, Birdgang and Cardinals Nation! Our 2018 Arizona Cardinals are in the Dallas/Fort Worth area in Texas, a primetime game with the Dallas Cowboys. Both the Cardinals and Cowboys conclude Week 3 of the 2018 NFL Preseason.
Tonight's game also could be pressure off the field between the players and coaching staffs. Many of the Cardinals players, especially the veteran reserves, and free agents signed after the 2018 NFL Draft, could be both practicing and playing their last NFL game . All 16 Week Preseason 4 scheduled games traditionally are all played in the same evening on the last Thursday in August.
Cardinals and Cowboys coaching staffs continue to evaluate their players and their game plans on the sidelines, as they decide the difficult decisions later this week to cut from the current 90-man regular season roster, to the final 53-man regular season roster, by September 3.
Sam Bradford is starting at QB for Arizona, while rookie and backup QB Josh Rosen is inactive because of his thumb injury.
Both Arizona and Dallas last preseason meeting occurred in the Pro Football Hall Of Fame played at Canton, Ohio back on September 3, 2017. Sam Irwin-Hill kicked the game winning 46-yard field goal, with 3:21 left in the fourth quarter, for their 20-18 win. Cardinals also were impacted in the aftermath, when their 2017 sixth-round draft pick, RB T.J. Ford from UNC, suffered his season-ending dislocated wrist injury and placed on injured reserved.
Cardinals though defeated the Cowboys 12-7, in both teams scheduled preseason season game played at University Of Phoenix Stadium back on August 17, 2013. Jay Feely kicked four field goals from 25, 53, 40, and 22 yards, in Bruces Arians home debut as the Cardinals Head Coach.
Dallas also leads the all-time regular season series after 89 games with Arizona with a 56-32-1 record, the lone tie at 10-10 tie, played at St. Louis, back on October 1966. Cowboys though defeated our Cardinals by the score of 28-17, in both teams last regular season meeting, played in Glendale during Monday Night Football back on September 25, 2017.
Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth, along with sideline reporter Michelle Tafoya, are announcing the live TV game commentary for the NFL On NBC Sports, the same broadcasting crew and network that televised and covered the 2017 PFHOF game between the Cardinals and Cowboys, televised internationally, and in Arizona on KPNX NBC 12 in Mesa/Phoenix, KNAZ Channel 2 in Flagstaff, KVOA Channel 4 in Tucson, and KYMA Channel 11 in Yuma/El Centro, all stations simulcasted on HD.
Dave Pasch and Ron Wolfley also return providing listeners the live radio game play-by-play and analysis from the broadcast booth, along with sideline reporter and interviewer Paul Calvisi, simulcasted also on flagship station KMVP Arizona Sports 98.7, and The Arizona Cardinals Radio Network.
AT&T Stadium's roof is closed for tonight's 5:05PM Mountain And Standard Time kickoff, because outside the stadium area around Arlington, Texas, is mostly sunny skies at 94 degrees, feels like 99 degrees is the game forecast outside the stadium area, along with 0% precipitation, 38% humidity, and southeastern winds at 13 miles per hour.
I also like to address the passing of Arizona Senator and Vietnam War Veteran John McCain, losing his physical battle, and his life-support system removed because Glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer, on Saturday Morning. John had an opened an public relationship to Arizona's professional sports teams and broadcasters, particularly the Cardinals, Suns, and the Diamondbacks.
I'm sure there be some mention of John Mc Cain's passing during tonight's telecast. I also felt John was a true American hero and my personal sentiment and condolences to his immediate family. RIP John.
Cardinals are wearing their white helmets, Nike red jerseys, and white pants, while the host Cowboys wear their silver helmets, Nike white jerseys, and silver pants.
NO injuries, great luck to the players continuing their dream to make the final 53-man regular season roster, and LET'S GO CARDINALS!!!!
