Hola FL,
What about Quinnen Williams? How good did the #3 overall pick do? After all, some mocks do have us taking D. Brown a DT. Just curious....

So, I am wondering, how does D. Brown compare to Q pre draft? I am fine with taking any of these positions with #8:
OT OG WR EDGE ILB OLB
However, I just can't see taking a DT with #8. Here are some of the DT's taken #8 or sooner in past drafts:
2019 Quinnen Williams #3 overall (Jets) Record after drafting: 7-9
2018 None
2017 None
2016 None
2015 Leonard Williams #6 (Jets) Record after drafting: 10-6, 5-11, 5-11, 4-12
2014 None
2013 None
2012 None
2011
Marcell Dareus #3 (Bills) Record after drafting: 6-10, 6-10, 6-10
2010 Ndamukong Suh #2 (Lions) Record after drafting: 6-10, 10-6, 4-12, 7-9
Gerald McCoy #3 (Tampa) Record after drafting: 10-6, 4-12, 7-9, 4-12
So, from the info I posted above, I just don't see how taking a DT at #8 is the way to go. #10 to #15 pick? Sure, why not.

Hey Flash, To answer one of your questions. I feel and so do others I respect like Scott Wright of NFLDRAFTCOUNTDOWN great website been aroundfor years and years. Derrrick Brown is the better prospect as a defensive lineman. than Quinnen Williams was a year ago. My biggest reason is Brown played more years in college than did Williams. Williams had one good year. Derrick Brown is a leader styaed one more year and it paid off. He will be a top 10 pick if not top 5. Scott Wright draftcountdown.com/mock-draft/2020-mock-draft/round-1-2020-mock-draft-1/Mel Kiper just put out yesterday he is one of the most NFL ready prospects. www.al.com/auburnfootball/2020/03/espns-mel-kiper-jr-derrick-brown-1-of-most-nfl-ready-players-in-2020-draft-class.html

For me it's either Brown or Willis at 8. Who ever is left on the board. Remember Willis was the RT. But he was the blind side protector on that line. Tua is a left handed QB. So he is used to being the blind side protector. Plus in 3 years when Hump contract is up you just flop him over to LT.
Brown may not get the sacks, but if he ties up two blockers that leaves everyone else 1 on 1. He may not get the sacks but someone else could.

That NY beat writer is funny. QW a 'bust?' Really? If that writer can convince the NYJ GM to offload QW for a 7th rounder, MB should send his Gulfstream to fetch that lineman pronto. QW is no bust. His team is a consistent bust.

PT,
Something to write about. These writers today just either make up stuff or sensationalize situations. Quinnen Williams is not a bust as much as he is part of a bad defense. We need more time to judge hislong term outlook. Leonard Williams was highly rated too and failed there with the Jets.

If the Jets want to get rid of Williams I'll take him. You don't really know what he was asked to do in their 3/4 set, and DT in a 3/4 set don't usually get sacks. Their job is to collapse the pocket and flush the QB into the waiting OLB.
