Both the starting O and D got off to a slow start, but then they rose to the occasion and got better as the game went on. This shows the team's toughness when things weren't going their way. It goes to show the importance of turnovers, you could be having a terrific time as an offense, then one guy makes a mistake and loses the ball. Total momentum changer, especially if you do it back-to-back.
Standouts: Rosen. As expected by many on this board, he did a lot better when he had competent protection. I think he proved today that he can make all the throws if given time. Even the 2nd team O-line did much better than last week; although, you could see Rosen was rushed a lot more compared to the first unit.
Chad Williams. He made 3 pretty decent plays. Its impossible to crown him as the second coming of Boldin (I think his ceiling is more Steve Breaston, hopefully I'm underestimating him), but that was a great showing considering what we've seen of him in the past.
Christian Kirk. He's looking more to be in the number 2 mold early on. I'm not saying he'll be the #2 starter week 1, but he most likely has a lot to give to this organization and much more improvement too. Exciting to think about!
Olsen Pierre. He's beginning to come out as a consistent player for this team. He had a strip sack and was seemingly involved in every run play. He may have to step up and take the place of RN if that foot injury persists.
Vontarrius Dora. We might have our Golden replacement week 1. The guy has been consistently making plays so far in the pre-season and I think is the standout of the DE spot opposite Chandler Jones. Just gotta make sure you don't lower your head for the tackle!
Bene' Benwikere. Hold on there Jamar Taylor, you may have competition for that starting CB position. This guy has the weirdest looking name since Dave Zastudil, but was the most impressive looking player in the secondary tonight. Keep an eye on him.
Other standouts: Bradford, Kanoff, the entire RB room, Greg Little, Rodney Gunter, Haason Reddick, Andy Lee, Matt McCrane
Sit-ins: Evan Boehm. I didn't believe it before, but now I'm convinced he's a bust. He was drafted in the 3rd round right? Granted, when he snapped the ball, it looked better than Munyer last week, but he just looked lost out there. Not good if he's trying to make the team.
Robert Nkemdiche. Injured again. Hopefully he'll be better by week 1, but we don't know. What we do know is he is officially injury prone. He gets hurt so much, I'm impressed he wasn't seriously injured with that balcony falling-out incident. He HAS TO get back on the field soon or there might be a cut by the end of the year.
Cap Capi. Granted, he only had the last half of the 4th quarter to get reps, but he was the worst player against the run tonight. I was constantly seeing him missing his gap when the RB would just cut the opposite way. He did get close to the QB a lot, but we already have plenty of guys who can get close, we need a player who can actually get his hands on some jersey.
Other sit-ins: Andre Smith, Brandon Williams (where was this guy?)
Overall, this was a pretty good game for the team as a whole. The good greatly outweighed the bad, but there's still some work to be done if this team even wants a prayer for post-season contention, obviously. The talent is there with the starters, but I'm not sure with the depth of this team, especially as more and more injuries occur before the regular season even begins.

1. Rosen looks great behind a good OL. He throws LAZERS. The tightest spiral ive ever seen.
2. Mike Iupati looks amazing. I dont know what happened but hes playing like his 25 year old All-Pro young self.
3. Mason Cole is doing an outstanding job as starting Center. Doesnt look like a rookie at all.
4. The DL is void of talent and it shows. Bunch of backups and journeymen and busts. Breaking news: Nkemidche hurt again. Cut that bum.
5. In no universe does Glennon deserve to make this team as the #3 QB over Kanoff. Kanoff is no superstar but hes better than Glennon, period.
6. Not terribly impressed by the RB's behind David.
7. Kirk made a couple nice catches, good to see. Otherwise im really not impressed by this WR group. WE WANT AUSTIN WOLF!!
8. Mccoys play calling is so boring. BA ball spoiled us.
9. PENALTIES. Jeez what happened? This team has no discipline on the OL.
10. Bene is a turnover machine. That guy easily makes the 53.

because of tape delay ive only seen first half..im usually negative so ill start with positives
-kirk, chad with some catches
-interior ol-starters-blocked run very well
-rosen-amazing what a difference a good snap makes
-Bradford-didn't miss a throw-mostly short stuff
-cards te's catching the ball!!
now the bad
-smith-2 games-2 false starts and was beaten like a drum 4 times in pass blocking...just saying...
-wentzel beaten badly twice in pass protection
-defense got lucky with some turnovers-really not much pressure

No surprise here that Rosen elevated his game with superior protection. How great was it to see not one but two QBs play well behind our starting OL? I tell you, it's difficult to not get really excited about Rosen because all the mechanics are there to suggest a really high ceiling. His mental game is far ahead of most rookies and once he has time to fully adjust to the NFL, grasp the offense completely, and has adequate protection he's going to be damn good. His footwork is fantastic, his passes so tight, compact, and precise that it reminds you a little of Drew Brees. He stays calm under pressure keeping his eyes down field as rushers approach him and particularly impressive for a rookie, the kid stays calm enough to get rid of the ball AFTER a pass rusher has already hit him and he's falling towards the ground. The kid is a cool customer. We absolutely need to remain invested in the OL and if we do, we have a very bright future as an organization. I think this is the first time in my life as a Cards fan that I've felt optimistic about our long term future....it's so warm and serene. Ahem, on to other things. Both us and coach have been waiting for some WRs to separate themselves and it was great to see a couple of the guys not named Fitz making plays. In particular, I really appreciated Williams breaking contact for YAC on one play and Kirk's touchdown catch was money with that defender all over him. Rosen to Kirk is going to be great to watch for a long time. Also, shout out to that DJ TD! The passing game may be less sexy with short to medium ranges but I'd be lying if I said that power run play didn't get the blood flowing! I loved how the OL stayed with the play and didn't quit until we scored, awesome team effort and impressive of DJ to remain on his feet and see him alter positions to leverage various pushing techniques to keep the play alive. Bene continues to impress and his interception was the most impressive catch of the game. Way to keep both feet in! He definitely will make the roster and I expect him to be right after Taylor on the depth chart but realistically it feels like he's pushing him though I don't think coach will swap them on the chart at this point. Pierre continues to make plays and makes me feel a hell of a lot better concerning Robert's inability to stay on the damn field. Still, we're trying to build depth and Robert continuing to disappoint doesn't help. Thank goodness Peters only cramped up and another shout out for Dora who also comforts me with Golden taking longer to come back than I originally suspected. I hope Golden doesn't miss much of the season but it's great to see Dora make plays in the meantime. Also concerning the defense, loving how many turnovers we're generating but a few were gifts by the opposing offense. Primary negatives besides the aforementioned disappointment in RN, the penalties! My god, over 100 yards lost through penalties. That's a killer in most cases. It's odd to me because Wilks seems like such a disciplinarian...I hope he's able to reign this in quickly. The run defense also disgusted me at the start of the game. We've prided ourselves on having a top run D the past few years so we know we have the players to still do it at a high level. Fortunately, they improved in that regard as the game went on but consider that Ingram went out and Kamara didn't play. We'll have a great test for at least a few series next game against Elliot. Other notes are that it was nice to see the second string OL improve their play, swapping Baehm and Mayner made a difference. They still are lacking but were noticeably better and Rosen playing with the starters first seemed to embolden him and help his confidence when playing with the backups. I agree that I'd rather keep Kanoff than Glennon, particularly for the price tag difference but it isn't going to happen. Keim has had his eye on Glennon for a while for whatever reason, I had hoped it was more a BA thing. They paid the man and he'll be a back up for a couple seasons I imagine while Kanoff will be on the practice squad and probably poached later Oh, and bless Mason Cole! He's a huge highlight. I was terrified at the prospect of rolling with a rookie Center but the kid has impressed and his performance renews hope for the season. He has better size than Shipley and will be an upgrade if he keeps up the solid play. Blessing in disguise? Though the depth behind Cole leaves much to be desired so pray for his health and the OL as a whole! Nothing new but if we can manage to keep Bradford on his feet, we're going to be a darkhorse playoff team. I think with McCoy's tailored offense, we have a chance.

- Draft class looks like it could be a homerun. Rosen, Kirk and Cole all look impressive and fill 3 huge holes. We desperately needed those guys and are lucky to have them. Even better if Edmonds and any of the other rooks can be good depth options, which I think some will be.
- Starting offensive line looks good as a cohesive unit. Seems like they are building some solid chemistry and are believing in each other under Ray Brown. Good to see. 2nd unit was at least better than last week.
- The future at QB is bright. Right now, I think I'll be upset if we lose Kanoff. It looks like there's some potential there...gotta find a way to keep him IMO. Now he could still play his way out of a job, but so far so good through 2 games.
- I'm guessing Fitz/Kirk/Butler/Williams are the top 4 receivers. Little or a rook might be #5. Could see Nelson out of a job.
- Gabe Holmes looks decent. Should be the #3 TE.
- I doubt Capi makes the team. Right now, I agree that Vontarrius Dora looks like the front runner for that spot. He's made some plays. And he has a fun name too FWIW lol.
- Secondary is good. We have playmakers. Benwikere is fun to watch, dude is beasting out there.
- Nkemdiche's injury doesn't sound serious, which is good to at least have him around for depth. But Pierre needs to get a lot of playing time this season...he looks dominant.

Disregarded the PS score. That win was totally meaningless.
Overall, the team played much better last night compared to a week ago. O an D players played as units. The O and D are learning fast.
About injuries, still have my fingers crossed. If the team can get through PS games #3 and #4 w/o any serious problems, then I am optimistic about starting the regular season with a powerful team, challenging the schedule contenders for wins, and surprising some folks.
Bradford and Rosen are the real deal. They are going to take this team to a place it has not been to in a long time.

Liked - - Iupati
- Rosen - quick release and tight spiral; Maneuvered around pocket to give him space to throw; IMO seemed to "lock-in" a lot to just the right side of field but that is typical for rookies.
- Kirk
- Reddick - playing much faster but needs to be more stout vs. run
- Pierre
- Chad Williams
- Gabe Holmes
- Mason Cole
- Hodges #51 -- looking like he did a few yrs ago for 49ers at LB.
Did not Like: - Run Defense
- Kickoff Coverage Team and for that matter the Kickoff Return Team
- Dawson missing 46 yd FG
- OL False Starts - first road experience (Want to see this cleaned up in Dallas)
- Nkemdiche
- Helmet Penalty on Dora
- Front Office needs to be looking to add one more OL and one more DL... Hodges helped LB depth now they need to address OL/DL depth.

Adding to the Like group: RG Justin Pugh. While everyone was touting Iupati on the David Johnson TD as being a Road grader again, on the left of Iupati was Pugh who had pulled from his RG position and forced his man all the way into the endzone giving David less pressure from the left of the scrum. He did an outstanding job on that play as a pulling Guard. Big +1 for Pugh. And I will add Center Boehm to this group for his play, while others will bag on him. For finally getting a chance to play his drafted position (and he was a 4th rd pick for the poster who thought he was a 3rd) after 2 years of being forced to play Guard because of injuries. Given more reps at center and Boehm will be a good back up eventually to Cole. Just the snaps alone puts him head and shoulders above Munyer's play. Matt McCrane FG from 53 yds out. (with Boehm snapping) Now did not Likes: Munyer at LG, not too good at that position either. Munyer may practice well, but game time he's not quite there.

Rosen and DJ are really good. Reddick can only play in space. He is getting washed out on run plays just like last year. He may not be able to stay on the field in base D. Until we see actual production Nkemdiche name and how much he means to this team should never be mentioned again. I'm tired of looking up the spelling so from strictly a posting POV I'm good with it. From the POV of having Reddick or Buck in the middle unprotected I think teams are going to run inside on us until we figure out a way to stop them. Buck in the old D could fill gaps and stop the run. We shall see how this develops once he gets on the field again.
It was nice to see Williams catch a ball and show a physical presence after the catch. It looks like he's in great shape and wants to make his presence felt. Kirk made a nice catch on a perfect throw for a TD. I hate WR screens but I give Rosen credit for how quick he got the ball out to Nelson on the one he ran. It wasn't a great play but its the kind of play that QB's are late on and can be a disaster.
It looks like the starting OL against a base D can push the pile and run inside. Humphries looked great as did Iupati. Cole had a couple of mistakes in the passing game but when he hits the pile on runs he moves it.
Pre-season is what it is. Nice win but it's hard to believe our 1st string D wouldn't have been blown out if Brees was running things. The OL is going to face a lot of stacked boxes in real games. Hope they can actually push the line when they don't have numbers? To be continued...
It's to bad we guaranteed so much money to Bradford and Glennon. This team with a few more pieces and some depth might be able to sneak into the playoffs.

Better fix the run defense if we want any shot at the playoffs. Can't have teams gashing the D on runs like the Saints did. That just opens up the whole can of worms. Especially play action. Don't know if it was guys out of place, or guys just getting beat. Probably a little of both. Not sold on our LBers. They are the weak link of the D so far.

Rosen much improved however in less than 2 Q's playing against mostly back ups he; *Nearly threw another INT, *DID fumble but got over turned by a bogus flag, *took another delay of game penalty.
But from week 1 it was an improvement no question.

Good
• Bradford – 6 for 6.
• I'm loving Rosen. He looks like the real deal. I'm really impressed with this kid.
• Chad Williams and Kirk finally impressed me. It was great to see those guys making catches.
• Benwikere had a great interception but didn't have a good 2nd quarter.
• Edmonds did ok. He had a nice run.
• Hodges was making some good impressions.
• Pierre played well.
• Mason Cole is doing well as a rookie.
• Boehm was better than Munyer.
• Nice touchdown for David and nice pull trap by Pugh.
Bad
• Nkemdiche - showed lack of passion before getting hurt. He was getting pushed back constantly. We cannot rely on this guy.
• Defensive line needs to do better. We couldn’t stop the run with the 1’s.
• Ricky Seals Jones need to learn how to block.
• JJ Nelson might be good for deep PI's. That's about it.
• There was another BS helmet call. That call should be reviewable!
• We've got to clean up these pre-snap penalties.
• Dawson missed 46 yard FG.

I was impressed by Rosen and Kirk. The Diche is NOT good, if he was worth anything, I’d say he needs a change in scenery. Maybe he would do better with Chuckie. Really disappointed with him.. see-ya is my vote. I think his cap # next year is 2.7 million
OL looked better, still concerned about B/U center. I think we have an nfl caliber LT.. Finally!! Wide Receivers looked ok, long ways to go to be GOOD though.. Glennon is trade bait.. if some team offered a 4th or 5th, he would be gone. IMHO! TE group needs to be utilized more before I can make any kind of judgment. DL didn’t play well, gutted up the middle, time after time.. Thanks Diche! LB group is weak. Need to coach them up.. RB looks ok, but if DJ wasn’t here, I’d be worried about that group also.. ST were better than last year. but that’s not saying much.. Lee can kick the air out of the ball.. BOOM!! GO CARDS!!

Agree with most of what’s been said here. Love seeing two QBs, including our QBOF, look like they can really play behind a decent Oline. We have to build that up, as it’s only decent as a first team and has little depth.
On defense I would just note we haven’t faced a starting QB yet. Some of those early turnovers and missed passes that benefitted our starting D last night won’t happen in a real game.

1st Big test for O and D will be the next game at the pokes 8-26-18. Have to have improvement overall as a team, all phases. Team has 8 days to get ready.
Just notice that by the 9th week Bye the Cards will have played 4 Divisional games. And both 9'er games in October. And there will be 5 home games vs 3 road in that 1st 8 weeks. Better make some serious hay that 1st 8 weeks.
