Sitting at 6.5 since April? Until late September when we're 3-0, there won't be any new money for the Cards line. I'm still not betting this year.

Looked at something this morning since my belief is the Rams offense will take a step back in 2018. I really believe McVay caught the NFL by surprise with the way he had the Rams setup at line of scrimmage and the Rams coaching staff looked at the defense ... then gave Goff the play to call before the play clock hit 15 seconds when communication is cut off between HC and the QB.
I've heard commentators on ESPN and NFL Network talk about defenses making some adjustments against this tactic. In fact back in OTA's Budda Baker was on 98.7 and made a reference to "adjustments" needed vs. Rams and the way they worked the play clock.
So this got me thinking -- how did the Rams offense do against the teams in their division when those teams got a 2nd look at the Rams.
1st GAME vs. Rams (Figures show Rams offense Total Yds vs. Opponent) -- especially note Goff's decline in 2nd game.
Cardinals - Rams Passing Offense = 228 Yds. and Rams Rushing Offense = 197 Yds. (could have been worse in London but Rams offense went conservative in 4th qtr.) Seahawks - Rams Passing Offense = 275 Yds. and Rams Rushing Offense = 100 Yds. 49ers - Rams Passing Offense = 292 Yds. and Rams Rushing Offense = 126 Yds. 2nd GAME vs. Rams (Figures show Rams offense Total Yds vs. Opponent) -- Cardinals - Rams Passing Offense = 213 Yds. and Rams Rushing Offense = 90 Yds. Seahawks - Rams Passing Offense = 108 Yds. and Rams Rushing Offense = 244 Yds. 49ers - Rams Passing Offense = 149 Yds. and Rams Rushing Offense = 102 Yds.
NOTE: All Rams offense stats were worse in the 2nd game except for the run game against Seahawks but Goff's total passing yards for the 3 games went from 795 yds to only 470 total passing yards against the 3 division foes the 2nd time around. A decrease of 41% in the passing game when Rams faced a team the 2nd time.
Now ALL the teams on the Rams 2018 season schedule have film and the whole off-season by DC's to perform adjustments to the Rams tactic ... we'll see what happens and whether Goff eventually will be able to cal audibles on his own yet or whether he is permanently tethered to getting instructions from McVay. HMMM ... it took 21 yrs for Goff to figure out the sun rises in the East and sets in the West despite the fact he grew up knowing the sun sets over the Pacific ocean while living on the West Coast.... unless he didn't know the ocean he was looking at was the Pacific Ocean ??
