He was interviewed on 98.7 (Doug & Wolf show) and had some interesting comments: - Cards had Tre Boston near the top of their list of desired FA's before free agency started.
- Thought Brice Butler was showing nice things over both weekend practices -- specifically pointed out that at 6'3" he showed over the weekend he could challenge for deep balls smoothly.
- Impressed with WR Sherfield from Vandy (many observers have made same impressions).
- Says another to look at is UDFA LB Dennis Gardeck
- Very impressed with Chase Edmonds and stated Cards fan could expect to see DJ and Edmonds on field at same time. This was in answer to a question of who is the #3 offensive weapon after Fitz and DJ ... so C. Edmonds being mentioned shows how much the Cards think of him.
I just hope Sherfield does very well in the pre-season games because he is starting to get the training camp hype like Steve Williams a few yrs ago who has just been a journeyman in the NFL.

Thing I found most interesting was that it seems Mike Bidwill has stepped in as GM. Everything goes directly to him. Lets see what happens. He might get a taste for it and become a new Jerry Jones owner/GM.

He might get a taste for it and become a new Jerry Jones owner/GM. That is true and heard that also -- are you listening to the remaining portion of Doug and Wolf with Dave Pasch segment. They are giddy about how much more physical this camp is under Wilks than BA's "camp-cupcake" training camp. Pasch's #1 observation is the offensive line looks very good and he was impressed with how much coaching is going on by the position coaches. However live on the air they mentioned Nkemdiche destroyed Iupati off the ball in the 9 - on - 7 drill.
Gardeck was mentioned by Wolf as being on the #1 ST Punt protection which is a good sign for him since coaches consider that ST a critical component of special teams. Also mentioned that Rudy Ford will be this year's Budda Baker ST replacement ... good thing that Rudy had an INT over the weekend so maybe he is a young guy elevating under better secondary coaching. He is extremely fast who came in raw so if he can convert his 4.3 speed with smarts/intangibles, Rudy could really become a pleasant surprise.
The radio show is also highlight DJ Humphries looking very good and noted his one-on-one matchups vs. Chandler Jones

DJ looked good. Not spectacular. Nor bad. When considering hes going up against Chandler, I think "good" is all you want. He can stop the rusher initially, but the longer the play goes, the rusher eventually can spin past him. But I think that probably applies to all Tackles. It just means the QB needs to get the ball out quick.

Sounded like Buddha will not be on ST this year, with an expanded role on defense. Pro Bowler on ST and still young...not sure I agree with that.
Did I hear Pat P was blitzing the QB?

Though if Mike starts liking the taste of GM red meat, that diet does not bode well for Steve Keim's future...or maybe Mike is just enjoying himself while his friend dries out. Hope so. |

NOTE: Don't sleep on Chris Campbell -- Wilks has the ability to take raw highly athletic, taller corners with long arms and turning them into something. He is around the ball with several picks over the first couple practices.
P.S. Another guy who is getting some whispers that could make the team is UDFA Andrew Vollert (#89) out of Weber State.

If Mike took control, Id be a hypocrite if I complained. Because lets be honest, all of us on this forum, if you were a team owner, you would stick your nose in too. 100% I would hijack the draft and pick all my favorite guys. And if they busted, its not like ima fire myself  |
