It looks like over the cap is finnaly up to date and we have 14mil in space. I know we have to carry Bradford’s 5mil incentive bonus and usually another 5 mil for IR/ injuries etc. that leaves us with let’s say 4mil.. anyone know if there are other incentive bonuses we have to carry money for? A quick look shows me Shipley and Dawson are caring over 5 mil combined and could be cut ( probbobly Shipley more so) and Gresham’s cap number is ridiculous!! ( but can’t do anything about it this year) next year we are going to have major money even after signing DJ, Golden, bucannon long term. Even if Fitz doesn’t retire, we will have $ for st least one if not two big time FA

I feel like that 14 mil has a lot to do with DJ’s holdout. Like they feel like there’s not even that many free agents worth signing, so might as well try to get a chunk of that now. Which to me, actually makes sense for both sides

Yes I think you are right. If there is cap space available, the team will give what they can to DJ. The problem is the club won’t really know how much cap space they will have until after camp. At the soonest.. players get hurt and they will have to go sign someone. That’s what happens when you are right up against the cap year after year. I hope that DJ gets a bonus later in the season. I wish there was a way to balance the cap better, year to year. If they can find another 5 mil (Bradford’s incentive $) I think the bulk of that will go to DJ. I don’t think it matters whether he is having a great year or not, he will get something, somehow.
