I would like to see the weather the worst it could possibly be. Bring on the rain, sleet and snow and blizzards too...
Next time one our players is thinking 'the sun shines better on the other side' and is contemplating / engineering a move away, they might suddenly remember their day out in Green Bay and say to themselves, "you know what, I quite like the life at the good old Cardinals".
Same when we are pitching for a player to sign. - Why someone of sound mind would choose Green Bay (or, similar freezing winter location) over the wonderful climate of Arizona I simply cannot fathom.

I concur with your statement about the weather. It also will tell you which players who are on the bubble to keep or to let go. Hard working players work hard no matter the weather or circumstances. Most players it is all about the money and the terms of the contract. The reason players sign with teams like Green Bay or Pittsburgh, New England or San Fransiscois they want to be a part of something great. The reputation of those teas being winners only adds to the Image. Players sign with teams in New York and Los Angeles because of the money. Its no just on the field but Commercials and speaking engagements. Players sign with teams like the Cardinals to be the savior of the team and the money if it is there,

If you are a stud college player, what team do you want to play for. There would be many things to consider. Obviously money is perhaps the biggest one. The second one is a team with a history of winning. The 3rd thing is a little more subjective. If you grew up hating the Cowboys. Would you really be happy playing for them? I think this may be more important than you think.... at least it would be for me.. Other things would be location. I don't think the weather is that important as it is if its near family or were you grew up. Ok and just for fun... Blast from the past

I can understand a lot of what you are saying there FLCardinalFan. On the money/ contract front I would have thought that with the salary cap regime we (and for other times like us) will be paying 'the going rate' for a player with a certain degree of talent / in a certain position. - Obviously each team may have a differing view on X player and thus recruitment becomes a process driven by opinions. - Your comments do, however, illustrate clearly the need for the salary cap and draft process. Without these and if teams could recruit whoever they wanted and spend as much money as they wanted then the NFL would be ruined in very short order. I just hope that those in charge are never seduced to go down this particular path, which would principally be driven under the banner of 'player freedom' (i.e. how can the top players get more money!) and 'market freedom' (i.e. how can a few teams corner all the best talent within a small clique and stuff the rest!). - In both instances, pure greed.
Re. the teams you listed (+ some others as well) then, yes, no doubt this matters to some people (both perspective players and perspective fans) of a certain disposition; or as I like to term them 'The Glory Hunters'. - Personally, as a fan, I cannot ever see me warming to any of these and perhaps your comments might explain why I have always held a dislike for the 49ers even well before I had any allegiance to the Cardinals. Similarly I would not wish to follow a team based in Los Angeles (which kicked the Charges into touch when I was looking for a team). - Anyway, it just makes life so much sweeter when we give it to one of these 'big boys' and give them a real good smashing!
Thanks for the link Thomas Cat. - A great view from great times. - We WILL get back there. Just BELIEVE!!

In sandlot ball there's this game term we called "a skunk"......which describes a game whereby the other team piles up so many points that you can never catch up.
I smell "a skunk".

Like real estate LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION Years ago most of the players wanted to play close to home to bring the family and play in front of friends, This is still true today for the most part. Going back to the match at Green Bay I hope we really can stick it up them! - They have a very strong Home record, but I don't think they are anything other than an average team with a big reputation. - GB are nowhere near Kansas and are also well below the Charges. So I don't think we have anything to fear other than ourselves. How much do the players want it?

Perhaps I'll go on holiday there some time during November/ December... www.greenbay.com/events-calendar/Sir, Are you serious? LOL! Green Bay is not exactly a destination city for Colonists this time of the year! For today's Green Bay activities, see the link. 3 of 5 events are NFL football related. The Bart Starr tail-gate gathering is likely awesome but probably a wash out today. Tickets to the Cards @ Packers game should be easy to find a few minutes before kickoff. Dress warm if you go to this game today. Two events are related to holiday festivities. I can only look at a few house lighting decorations and then I hit overload. Ice fishing and hockey sports ramp up in truly cold months. Beer and cheese brats are year-round. Recommended.

Putmein: Thanks for the link and your advice. Have you ever been yourself?
I quite like the look of the Festival of Trees at the National Railway museum. - Is it six years before we play a regular game there again? - I think I will slot it in my long term diary and double head this event with a GB v Cardinals game.
Ice fishing... umm, perhaps not!

Ice fishing... umm, perhaps not! Sir, Regrettably, I have not visited the city of Green Bay or the fine State of Wisconsin. Longtime Midwesterners call that a 'fly-over' state, something that snobs view down below from the window of a Boeing 777 that is heading somewhere other than Cheese Head land. Residents of Wisconsin do love the north-central US region. The folks are warm and friendly at all times. The countryside is quite charming 6 months of the year. P

Putmein: You have made me feel a little guilty, I have been somewhat harsh on the good people of Green Bay in the fine state of Wisconsin.
Yes, I will do my best to be there in six years time and experience the warm hospitality in the coldest conditions - Who might wish to join up for 'a forum away day'?
Hope we give them a thrashing today though...
