My friend and I celebrate this day every year
This year I FORGOT! July 1st. Bobby Bonilla Day
Can anyone on the board ever imagine the Arizona Cardinals doing something like this! Bonilla is 53 and his contract still goes on every year. This is despite he has been retired for years. Fantastic story. Also if you want the best story read about the St Louis Spirits and their NBA Contract. UNREAL Link Below
I guess in a way we did with Jermaine Gresham and his ridiculous contract

The Diamondbacks were in a similar situation where they paid guys for a long time.
And when Keim took over the Cardinals he said it would take 5 years to get rid of all the bad contracts and salary cap situation. Well easier said then done. He gave out some very bad deals with Gresham, HB and Bradford among others.

If 5 years ago he said his #1 priority was fixing the offensive line....and here we are 5 years later with one of the worst OLS in the NFL, then why is he still employed as GM? His plans are worthless.

Bobby would have been richer had he played it better. Good for Mets if any good came out of a bad decision.

i remember Keim saying one of his goals was to get all the dead cap money off the books. He did that and started all over again putting us in an even deeper hole.

The PRC President Zi is on the country's 7th or 8th 5-year plan now. Long live Mao!

PT, Mao, now those were the days. Long time ago seems like yesterday. Remember "THE GREAT LEAP FORWARD" Let's hope he doesn't turn into a Franco and rule 36 years.

It was actually the basis for "1984", where propaganda would say "Steel workers have exceeded goal by 127%! All glory to the State!" You can also see in the link how they would bend truth to fit their ideology. 2+2=5. Another concept explored in "1984" (phenomenal book for those who havent read it) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_five-year_plan

"1984" was written 70 years ago by author George Orwell. 1984 is a chilling prophecy about the future. And while 1984 has come and gone, Orwell's dystopian vision of a government that will do anything to control the narrative is timelier than ever. A new paperback is about $8 now. $1 at resale shops. Back on topic: What other crazy sports stories are out there? 14 days to TC!

Bobby would have been richer had he played it better. Good for Mets if any good came out of a bad decision. Bobby flipped 5.9 million into $1.2 million for 25 years (plus 8% interest). The Mets invested that money with Madoff and lost like everyone else who invested with him. Bonilla also has a 2nd deferred contract with the Mets and Orioles that pays him $500,000 a year for 25 years.
