Very good article and has some very interesting comments from a Pro Bowl player who says "pump the brakes on Jimmy G." - Pump the brakes on Jimmy G.
CJ talking about the new Cards defense [Excerpt from above] - "A guy can just go play and not think. You can play a lot faster. Our whole defense should be a lot faster."

If we can get another 15+ sack from Chandler and another 9+ from Golden (hopefully more), plus what Buc, Reddick, and Bynes can get at the LB positions, now throw in some sacks from corner and safety blitzes, and I'm not even counting what the interior D-line will get, the Sacks should be in the the 35+ and beyond easily for this D. At just 35 sacks that is an avg of 2+ sacks a game. I expect it be actually higher than that rate as well. DC Holcomb and HC Wilks know how to get after a QB with the talent they have on their D.
All this D pressure on opposing O's will give the Cards O more chances to be on the field. I expect this D to feed the O. And that will be a good thing.

I seen that article too and it actually made alot of sense. I can totally see him lighting it up. The thing that stood out to me was:
"His job is to single gap pass rush. He has zero responsibility to stop the run".
Man, I can see that sort of single minded focus and non-thinking be extremely beneficial.

One thing to keep in mind. In 2016 Markus Golden had 12.5 sacks vs Chandler Jones 11 sacks. Not saying he is better, but then again....who knows. statsThe point is, we have two guys that can get to the QB. When you have two, they make each other just that more effective. I'm telling you.....we're going to surprise people. Go Cardinals

I think the 1 gap system will fit the players better than the old 2 gap system. Like they said. It will allow all the players on the D line to play faster. The one I think will have a real break out year is Pierre. Kid came on last year in limited playing time with 5.5 sacks. I can see him getting up to 9 if he gets the time on the field. That's what this D needs. Someone on the inside who can get into the QB grill real fast. I can see this D getting up to around 50 sacks is someone on the inside steps it up.

The interior D-line with a rotation of Nkemdiche, Peters, Pierre, and Gunter could also produce a few sacks. Peters' performance will be a key to watch in TC and Pre season as he will no long be strictly a nose tackle. And this is his final year of his contract. Gunter will have to step it up more this year or one of the new DT's may take his place. Currently we only have 6 DT's on the Team 90 man roster. So Gunter should win a spot, maybe.
We have 9 DE's on the roster now too. But everyone expects Jones and Golden to be the "Main" ends for the d-line. So who will be the backup this year now that Kareem Martin has moved on? Does Alec James the UDFA from Wisconsin have an inside track? Or does the 6th year journeyman Benson Mayowa? What about Bryson Albright from the PS squad last year?

Right now with out the pads on I couldn't tell you who has a shot as the back up DE. Also I don't see Golden starting the year with the 1st D line unit. Think it will take a little time for him tow work back up to that.
