With a little luck it is more like a what-to-write-a column-about-with-nothing-going-on problem. Too soon to panic IMO.

Of all our LB's I really like Josh Bynes. I dont know why but he just seems to be the most well rounded, even if he'll never be spectacular. Just a johnny do-it-all.
Its not fair because hes still young, but I have very low expectations for Reddick. I see another Nkemdiche. Keim drafting an athletic guy instead of a talented guy.

Fortunately in a 4-3, the stars of the front 7 need to be the D-line first, the LB's second. All the LB's need to do to be effective is cover their lane and be fast enough in coverage, something I think our starters are more than capable of doing. The D-line takes on the vast-majority of rushing over the course of the game. Bucc has been in the league long enough to know how to call shots and do well-enough in coverage while Bynes will fill the MLB role without being a liability. The wildcard here is Reddick because I think he's the only one capable of making plays with his athleticism. The question is: is he the football player we hope he can be? Or is he just a jack-of-all-trades, master of none?

I think LB could potentially be our weak link in the D. Bynes I think will be ok as the Mike Lb. No Bobby Wagner but not a big liability either. Buck and Reddick are the two I'm concerned about. I can see Buck getting consistently run over by guards and centers. Especially since he won't have D linemen protecting him. Reddick I hope can make the transition. In college he was a rush LB and didn't have many other roles to play. Now he has to learn how to actually play LB. Rush, cover, and set the edge. Not sure he can master all those areas.
In next years draft I think this is one area that needs to be addressed in the early rounds. If for nothing more than depth, and at best a darn good starter.

Linebackers big hits are already a thing of the past and the position may be on the way out. The no-helmet-hit rule this year is going to dramatically change Offenses and Defenses' habits. We're in for some crazy film highlights on Monday morning....lots of missed arm tackles and many more USC penalties.

Dick Butkus, Larry Stallings , Tommy Nobis
All 3 of those guys would find it hard to make the team with the rules you mentioned PT
like you said lot of arm tackling
I have loathed the blocking the last 10 years in the league now comes the tackling.

FLCF,
Those 3 guys would not know the NFL today.
When NFL players next have to wear tear-away flags....and helmets are outlawed....year 2025???
Is that the end of American pro football?
