Rosen’s strong minicamp doesn’t change Bradford’s status as Cardinals’ starter
The Cardinals used the 10th overall pick in this year’s NFL draft on quarterback Josh Rosen, and reports out of minicamp suggested that he is showing all the talent the team thought he had. But that doesn’t mean he’ll start as a rookie.
Sam Bradford remains the Cardinals’ starter and the Cardinals’ website suggests that there’s really no competition at all in training camp: Bradford is the starter.
Nonetheless, Rosen was impressive by all accounts, picking up the offense quickly and showing good accuracy and arm strength on the practice field. The Cardinals obviously liked Rosen enough to use a Top 10 pick on him, and they saw everything they hoped to see.
Given Bradford’s history, there’s a good chance he’ll be injured and unavailable at some point sooner rather than later, and Rosen will be given the starting job. But if Bradford is healthy, it appears he’ll start Week One no matter how well Rosen performs in training camp.

All good news, I hope SB stays healthy. It wouldn’t hurt JR to hold the clipboard for a while. When the cards are virtually out of the playoff run, then let JR have the reigns for the rest of the season. Rookie QB’s make mistakes, and so will Josh. My worry is not so much wins and losses, or interceptions. It’s more about putting himself and/or his receivers in dangerous situations re: injury. Hopefully the OL will come together and stay healthy.

This is unacceptable. There should be a competition for the starting job as anyone named Biggs knows that Bradford can't win games.

And just who has Bradford played for that had a good team ? The Rams ? That organization was a joke when he was there. Now I'm not saying Bradford is the 2nd coming of Manning, but under the right system and with a good team around him he can win. Question is ? How long can he remain injury free. Can he make it through a full 16 game schedule.

Josh has two concussions already, and hasn’t played a down of NFL football. We need to see some semblence of an Oline before we toss him in. The Oline will have at least two new starters, and two more coming back from injuries. Step 1: get the Oline going. Step 2: get our new QBOF going. Skip step 1 and we could ruin the kid.

This season is about learning, not winning. Id be fine with a 7-9 with Bradford as starter. It doesnt matter. The future begins with Rosen in 2019.
And until 2019, we need to build that OL up. I honestly would be terrified to play Rosen today. He would get obliterated. Not only would that destroy him mentally (like David Carr) but it might do him in physically with the concussions.

This is unacceptable. There should be a competition for the starting job as anyone named Biggs knows that Bradford can't win games. I don't believe in QB competitions. Teams that have QB competitions don't have a QB. Rosen is our QB and face of the franchise. It's all about developing him. Sam was signed to essentially a 1 year deal before we drafted Rosen. Sam is irrelevant. If Rosen is good enough to start they should hand him the ball and let him start. The team and the organization needs to be fully committed to Rosen for this team to have a future. It's not about who's better today. Sam is gone after this year. This is only about what's best for Rosen's development. I think Rosen was the most ready to start QB in this draft. I didn't think we had a shot to get him. We did. If having him sit helps develop him let him sit. If starting him and taking his lumps helps his development start him. There is no reason for a QB competition. Like Philadelphia did with Wenz, if he's ready put him in. If he's not there isn't any choice. Sam is irrelevant to the Cardinals future. There is a group here who think our OL is so bad and Rosen is so fragile that's the reason to sit him. If that's true starting Bradford is criminal. There is only one reason to start Bradford, Rosen isn't ready and starting Rosen will hurt his development. QB competitions are for teams that can't commit to their QB.

Its how I always felt about Leinart. Matt Leinart was soft and fragile. He needed support and back rubs and to be told he was the man. Instead he got Denny Green. And he was told HOF QB Kurt Warner will supplant you if you arent a star immediately. Having Kurt breathing down his neck destroyed him. For his haters, heres the deal: Leinart was EXTREMELY talented. He was arguably the greatest USC QB of all time (at the time). If treating him like a big baby meant he came out and won us superbowls, then it wouldve been worth it. You must adjust to your players. Rosen is a jerkoff millennial. Do not treat him like some 32 year old veteran. In order for Rosen be successful, you have to be willing to treat him as a star. No competition. If hes the next AArod, then its worth it.

I don't care about this year as long as we set ourselves up for a run in 2019. If Rosen looks the part, and our O-line protects, play him. If not, let him learn. We have three serviceable QB's this year and one is expendable.
One advantage to starting Bradford is to prove whether or not he's healthy. If he looks good in pre-season, and another highly ranked team loses a QB early in the year, I'm all for trading Bradford and picking up a solid draft pic for 2019. We can definitely net a 2nd/3rd if Bradford picks up where he left off before he got hurt.

Rosen has been learning a lot and so has Sam. Sam knows more now but I predict Rosen will learn quickly and Rosen wins the starting job. I was so psyched when the Cards traded up for Rosen. Keim won big. He has options with Bradford too. He could trade Bradford if Bradford agrees to a team who is desperate and I believe this will happen because Glennon is the backup and a they have a rocket armed ivy league kid at #3.
