There has to be a way to vet new member applications before they can post, to stop evildoers from posting dangerous material and links. Can you Admins and Mods come up with something?
I just was caught by opening "banksyrev"s first post, which is malware and crap. It was posted two minutes after he signed up as a new member.
We don't need that kind of stuff, even if this season does go down the drain - at least let's keep the board safe to read.

I agree. We need some kind of autofilter but that might cost money.
Filter out politics, etc

Members, give the Moderators a few days to research ProBoards s/w. A delay option might be available or we can build a holding pen.
I do look at new members information when they register at the Forum. And I don't click on anyone's links unless I first know who that person is by reputation, personal messaging, etc.
Norton.com helps me somewhat with hidden stuff. I have to do the finger work myself.

I was thinking that there should be a Mod or Admin review of all new member applicants before they can post, if there is some way to do it within ProBoards' software.
We need some way to identify false names, check to verify email addresses etc. as clues to catch malware planters and robots. (I forget now what info is required at signup) Maybe send an email to the provided address asking the applicant to verify some or all of his/her info before accepting the new member?
Others may have more useful suggestions based on their technical knowledge.
Members who stray into verboten topics are a separate consideration and are handled after the fact now - but they don't spread malware.
Prohibited topic posts would be impossible to anticipate at signup... (IMO).
EDIT: Sorry PutMeIn, I didn't see your post before this one. You are already on it.

www.proboards.com/admin-guide/login-registration/restrictingKnobby, FLCF, I located the ProBoards procedure for Forum membership registration and approval. Please stand by while I make some settings changes. Fellow Administrators and Moderators, Once I make the settings changes, new registrants' profiles must be reviewed and approved by you or me prior to membership being granted. football and forums getting way to political for me True. I'm certain that politics will be showcased at NFL games too, if any are played. Glad I know where the TV "OFF" button is on the remote.

Drew Brees can't donate fast enough thinking about all those dudes foaming at the mouth, ready to get him. But that works both ways. It will fire up Brees who is tough to bet against, and it will also call out players looking to not act right, or put cheap shots, bounties on other players. It will all work out and players like the Eagles D line guy and others making threats will get what's coming to them.

Maybe we could lock in a practice squad roster thread so we do not have to get a new one for each player move. I know we have a roster and practice squad roster one, but that doesn’t seem to be working.

A master player roster spreadsheet? The above roster thread seems to work. But if there is need to improve the process, I'm all for it. Sportrac is one of the best sources for up-to-date team and player information. Plus there are the usual newsies with all kinds of bias.

I just meant every practice squad signing seems to get its own thread. Was trying to think of one place where they could all be listed, but after further thought that won’t help. People will still start a new thread.

People will still start a new thread. I'm guilty of posting these signings of practice squad players. Some players though like Curtis Riley is a player who was actually signed to the 53 man roster. This is Breaking News It can get lost under the discussion thread. My idea would be to move these practice squad signing threads to the All discussion threads of the same subject. This could be done after some time. If anyone has a good idea I am all for it.

And I didn’t want to start a new thread but then realized that it might not be seen on the sticky Roster thread.

I guess this is the place to put this. No offense to anyone, but I'm not sure if locking down the game day thread until game day is the way to go. PutMeIn is doing a job that Westgate would be proud of. FLCardinalFan is adding very useful and informative links. All that's good, but I find myself wanting to add or comment on something, but I can't. This is just my opinion, but I would prefer the game day thread on the day of the game and open to all.

One problem that some of the moderators and Administrators is having the time to put up the Game Day Thread. Many of us have jobs and commitments to outside the forum. They need to do the work of the Game Day Thread without being rushed to out it up Sunday Morning or game time. There were a few times when Westgate was no longer here the Game Day was just a few sentences a few hours before the game. I don't mind at all helping with the Game Day Thread but I don't want members feel like I am hogging the board. I still work fulltime and love doing the Game Week Thread. The Cardinals as I have said before are a love of team for me. It is a hobby for me to research the team. As I have gotten older and for health reasons no longer compete in previous hobbies that were very tie consuming but rewarding. The last several years have been Cardinals , Deep sea fishing, golf and a few other exploits. The Game Day thread in the past has been reserved for Game Day. We could use some help from forum members in preparing the Thread for every game. All offers would be appreciated. The problem as I see it is the offers to help must come from committed members who have the time and show up regularly. One person could do History I think Putmein does a great job of that, Another could do betting lines and oddsmakers. I'm not into that much but do put up links like Oddsharks because they have information members could use. Putmein does cover this area very well. He also covers the following: Other areas are the injury reports for both teams, weather reports game times with TV and radio coverage naming stations & locations. Articles and links to other teams are helpful. I love doing this kind of research. As long as my health permits me, I will put all the information I can find to make the forum the best on the internet. FLCF
