I've rarely paid attention to the supplemental draft. But on occasion, there is somebody up for grabs. Biggest star out of the supp is recent years being WR Josh Gordon (excluding his drug suspensions) is a superstar. CB Sam Beal is "the name" in this years supp draft and the more I read...I cant help but think we should really go get him. The thinking being "In a normal draft he would be a 2nd-3rd rounder". So why not put in a 3rd-4th round bid? Either you dont get him, no harm no foul. Or you do get him and suddenly we have the young, talented CB we were begging for in the 2018 draft. I say worth a shot. One last risk'it. scouting report: draftwire.usatoday.com/2018/06/08/breaking-down-wmu-cb-sam-beal-ahead-of-supplemental-draft/**the reason he's in the supp draft Is because of academic issues. He's classroom dumb. But apparently football genius. I wont hold that against him. Plenty of pro sports athletes are mongoloids. Kyrie Irving, a borderline MVP in the NBA thinks the earth is flat. So dont let that scare you. He doesnt have drug or behavioral issues, which is the important thing.

Have the cards ever attempted to get a player in the supplemental draft? Or have they ever brought a player in that was available in the supplemental draft, as an udfa?

I found two players that were drafted in the supplemental draft by the cardinals. Timm Rosenbach was the first player. And Willy Williams..

Pass on him. Don't we already have a guy on the roster who switched from O receiver to DB ? How is that going. Plus he isn't a good tackler and has questionable hands. Like the size, but that's about all I like.

Beal is a very good CB right now. Did you read the article? Hes projected to be a 1st-2nd round pick. Thats no joke. Dude ha skills. And the tackling thing doesnt bother me at all. Prime was an awful tackler. A CB who never gives up a catch/TD is 100x more valuable than a CB who can tackle. Thats what S and LBs are for.

Walterfootball had an analysis of teams who might be interested (doesn't include Cards but that doesn't mean SK is not interested). Could have been a late 1st rounder in 2019 draft so a 4th rounder for him would be good value. BTW: CB's who are very good man-to-man defenders don't need to be book-smart.

Thats what im talking about. A probable 1st round pick next year, that can be grabbed for a 3rd rounder right now. Yes its a gamble, but this is a rare opportunity. Theres a supremely talented young CB up for grabs. Something the fans have wanted forever. MAKE A BID!

He is a new one on me. I think a little research could be called for. There are a few reports on him easily found on google, that all seem to think he is a possible late day one prospect with another year in school. So grabbing him now, and redshirting him, for at least half the season, seems to me like a good move. I’m not sure, given the fact he will be very much on the radar of many teams, that the Cardinals third gets him. But if it did, it could look a nice move in a year or two.
Thanks for the heads up Zaz.

If he is “projected” to be a late first/early second then i don’t see why we wouldn’t take a chance with our fourth.
From video I watched, he has good speed and plays solid press coverage but uses his hands and holds a lot which will be called in the pros. Plus he has trouble shedding blocks to get into the run game. Not worth a third unless he builds more strength to participate in our run defense.

I feel like the cardinals could have picked him with a 2nd round pick and it still could have been a good thing. You spend a draft pick for a player that you otherwise couldn't see play until September 2019, and instead get one now.
