Ladies and gents it may be early but we need some hope so let's kick off the discussion now that CFP playoffs are about to begin.

I have seen almost all the top guys play except the Arizona WR so I can't comment on him. While I'm a big fan of Travis Hunter and Mason Graham, they are not options to slide so I won't comment on them. What I was to discuss first is just how deep and talented this edge class is. In addition to being deep at edge, you've got some interior guys like Graham that will go early. For those reason, I'm focused on guys that could be there from 10-20. If we aren't going to the playoffs, we really don't want to be picking after spot 14. Fourteen is where we could still get a top interior DL/edge guy.
The guys I'm targeting after top 10 would be:
Kenneth Grant - IDL - Michigan
Walter Nolen - IDL - Ole Miss - compared to Quennan Williams
Mykel Williams - edge - Georgia -- compared to Travon Walker
James Pearce - edge - Tennessee
Pearce may be the only guy left if we are picking outside the top-15, but it shows you just how deep this edge class is. Pearce is the last of the elite edge rushers. There are others I didn't list like Jalon Walker but he's going early unless some random legal charge were to appear.
Walter Nolen is the one I'm most interested in now since he feels a position of need on interior yet also offers some pass rush flash. Grant might be the top run defender but Nolen is probably the best all around DL. Mykel is going to be the most disruptive from a pure edge perspective. But edge isn't as needed as interior DL. I don't know if Nolen will be the next Quennan Williams, but he could be the next Chris Jones. The combine is going to shift a lot for all the above guys.
The only good news about missing on all the above is there are 3 decent OT in the top-20. So with it being a deep DL and OT class, we are getting one or the other. The Oregon OT is expected around pick 20. Can't say I've seen much of him yet but he's not a bad consolation prize. Also, while this class lacks high end QBs, outside of Cam Ward, the majority of QBs are likely going to slide so we can probably get excellent value on one. While I'm normally a fan of trading down, I don't think I'd trade down if we end up picking in the top-15. There is too much quality talent in the top-15 this year. At positions of need.
The Georgia QB got hurt in SEC championship and is out for season. I think he's perfect example of a kid that's going to fall. I don't see him as a high end starter, but he could be an excellent backup. Someone I believe could play .500 ball at worst. If I could get him in the 3rd I'd consider him. I'm just not sure how bad his injury is and if it's another Colt McCoy thing. Colt was never the same after his college shoulder injury. Just someone to think about if we didn't want to take the Texas QB in the second, or we couldn't land someone like Daniel Jones to compete with Kyler. I also wouldn't mind taking a flyer on the Penn St QB if he falls to the 2nd round
