I never realized how much I look forward to the Aris Monday Morning QB write ups until I didn’t see one yesterday! Nothing I disagree with here. The Oline is earning my respect in the same way the defense is…not a lot of perceived individual talent but are playing so well together the sum seems greater than the parts. That speaks to coaching, system, and buy in. In the most recent player interviews you can’t miss the buy in. The game is fun right now for these guys, not a job. You see that in winning teams. I just about missed this. I appreciate that buddy. I sometimes wonder if I should continue , people read it but dont comment much. You and I are on the same page about a lot of things and I always read your comments. (except Dobbs LOL). I think we were right about KK and had some faith in Kyler moving forward. Always impressed with your well thought out posts.

Don't give it up aris; your slot is the highlight on a Monday for post-game analysis and it is an important contribution to stimulate debate. I value your opinions and normally pick up and respond on one item from your list. Keep it going...!

I think we can do better than Dobbs as Backup QB...
We won only 1 game out of 8 that he was our QB...we need a better QB than that for our backup.
When he went to Minnesota...he played 4 full games as QB...they won 2 out of 4 games. He had 5 Passing TD's and 5 Interceptions in those 4 games...he did have 3 rushing TD's in those games. He had 6 fumbles in those 4 games...
I just don't think that he is a good choice for our Back Up QB...
What about Trey Lance? Could Petzing turn him into a better than average QB? Would he be affordable at this time? Just a thought...

What I remember about Dobbs is how good he was in his first couple of games here and in Minnesota. Both were bad teams BTW which should be taken into consideration. From a cap and team building perspective you'll never have much in the backup role unless you get lucky like the Vikings this year. No way Sam Darnold was thought to be the starter. BUT you are correct in that we can do better and should always look to upgrade slots on the team. But if you are relying on a backup for a large portion of the season I think your season is lost anyway. That's the appeal of Dobbs to me. Super smart and seems build for Penzing's offense and can step in and get the job done on a short term bases. Gardener Minshew is like that too. (but as aspirations to be a starter) I do like your thoughts on Lance.

They had Dobbs and decided to set him free and keep Tune, so the idea of them going after Dobbs is not real likely IMO.

I liked Lance in college...he was not really recruited out of HS in Minnesota as a QB. Lance had elite speed and had some great talent around him at NDSU...Watson WR who is on Green Bay was one of his weapons...He had very few college starts and it was covid so he didn't get as good of a base of knowledge as many QBs or college prospects have had. Similar to Allen ,Bowle's a former NDSU HC who recruited Allen to play at WY...NDSU recruited Lance to play QB when most colleges didn't want him or seek him out as a QB...NDSU runs a run heavy NFL style offense and won several national champions by being smart and sound and also having solid defenses. I hate Kyle Shanahan as a HC and he has been the demise for several QBs health in his NFL career starting with RG3 in Washington. As the OC in ATL and losing to NE giving up a 3 score lead speaks to his lack of ability. He has been surrounded by great people and has a great GM and the Cards and Kyle have one thing in common...neither have won a SB. Kyle did nothing to help Lance's development and put him position to get injured...Kyle did accomplish getting lance injured and hurt his NFL future. The Cowboys are not going to assist Lance's development either. Hard to know at this point if Lance is ruined going forward.
