I have been paying close attention to this rookie class of wr's and it looks solid. I do believe however Qb's are holding them back so far. Nabers Harrison Odunze and Robinson I think are all solid. I believe so far the biggest bargain was Robinson only because he was taken the latest. On the other hand if we passed on a trade down we missed out. Still to early to say who is best but do believe Qb will have a say in it. If we would have passed best Wr we could of taken was the 49er rookie and I am glad at this point we did take wr. The rookie 49er might show we made a mistake but really think we did the right thing. This has been a decent draft class so far with Wr's and Qb's IMHO.

Maybe it was a DRob reference. MHJ is on pace for 1000 yards and 10 TDs as a rookie...he has solid ratings and even with his unforced errors he has a great attitude and work ethic. I liked Brian Thomas JR the best of all the rookie WRs and I understand why Monti took the lay-up picking MHJ. If he traded down and MHJ excelled on another team it would have been a fan revolt. Thomas is younger...same size...faster and maybe a better ceiling...so far better numbers and less mistakes as well. Monti could have at minimum picked another edge or DL with the load in a trade-down from 4 to late teens. Ricky Pearsall isn't in the same group as MHJ, Nabers, Odunze or Thomas and Thomas was looked over by many as being in the top elite WRs in the 2024 draft. As per rookies and how they are performing as per Card picks...Tip in many ways is proving of the greatest impact and puts the offense in a plus position in the run game. It is unfortunate and disappointing on the DRob injury and I think he will be a great long term pick. As per X's and O's with the recent success of the counter trey or counter gap block scheme in the run game a great short play action off it is get a swing pass opposite of the OL pulling or use the swing route to continue as a lead blocker or clearing route for a QB run behind the swing route. By running the counter gap with success and paying attention to the defenders...many times the reaction clears the defense from that area.

Pearsall got his first TD but it was against the worst passing D in the league.

Harrison has the best starting QB throwing to him IMHO. Harrison needs to get into his play book and learn his effing' routes. Harrison needs to throw, at the very least, chip blocks when a teammate is carrying the ball downfield in his direction. He's been lazy when the play starts away from him. This dude is padding his father's legacy in the NFL to his early start. Unacceptable!
Be your own legacy Marvin!

I was planning on creating a thread about the rookies in our draft and will just use this thread to comment on them.
As for the rookie WR class, Nabers is held back by his QB and team, but is doing great. He has a sparkling 81.3 PFF for goodness sakes. Odunze is limited by his QB, team and mostly being behind two very good vet WR’s, so doesn’t see the amount of action he could be. Thomas was a steal. I never understood why he was looked at as a late 1st rounder, I think people were wondering if the success of Nabers and Thomas was because of their QB at LSU or vice versa.
As for our draft…MHJ looks like a great rookie WR. We can’t be disappointed in a rookie with 6 (7?) TDs by the bye week. And he will continue to get better. He’s 22. Melton looks like a rookie as well, and needs the reps he is now getting since Bunting went down. If they have the smarts, CB’s make a big jump in season 2. I’ll hope for that. He’s looking better and better to me each game recently. This felt like Benson’s break out game a bit, and you could see it coming last week. He’s catching up to the speed of the NFL and not over-thinking, finally. Tip Reiman grades as a 50.2 on PFF…lol! This is where PFF stats for TE’s break down, just because it grades receiving TE’s. #87 flashes on the back of his jersey on so many blocks and running downs. He gives us an extra Olineman and when our five meet their five up front he leads and punches the hole. 3rd round Guard Isaiah Adams has now played enough reps to be graded and sits at a respectable 68.9 PFF on an Oline doing well while missing two starters.
Taylor-Denison, or “Rabbit”, gets his own paragraph! Limited snaps, but this kid looks like a young Budda Baker out there being in the right place at the right time. It shows in his current 90.5 PFF. We saw it today when he saved an Adams TD and in us not missing Jaylen Thompson who was out with an injury today.
That’s six rookies getting serious playing time and doing it well by mid-season of their first year. Add 1st rounder DRob, maybe as soon as our next game vs Seattle, and this Cardinals draft class is looking pretty darn good! Depending on what happens with Conner and Budda, we could have seven starters from the 2024 draft.

Our six and four says so. Is it JG and MO. I don't know, but I'm liking it.

The Forum members' optimism about Monti's second draft class is correct. The guys are proving their draft selections were correct one by one. It's hard to conclude that Monti made any mistakes.
Only DRob is untested. His first test could be vs. the Seahawks on November 24th.

Tip is the poster child that proves stats can not quantify quality of play or value. I saw him on the sidelines in the second half with his helmet off…his face was flushed red and he was winded…he is putting it on the line with his play. Like a Dennis Rodman… not too many pretty stats… the opponents hate playing against him. I have thought about is it the players or their supporting cast or coaches? I have the thought of the team does effect a player’s success. QB more than any position. Having a HC and coaching the players respect is very important as well as the ability between players and coaches to have a willingness to conform to each other’s strengths. There is give and take as well as non-negotiatable items. This type of relationship is happening with the Cards and also the handing off of leadership to the core players. It is unique to have a roster and staff in-sync and when that occurs the wins seem to follow. The rookies get a boost in personal success the better they buy-in and apply themselves on a team doing things the right way. It is just as easy to ruin good talent and rookies when they land on bad teams.

Xavier Thomas is starting to flash over the last few games even though he is playing only about 30% of the snaps. On the 4th down play, the spin move by Browning was elite quick in which the Jets LT blocked "air" and flushed Rodgers to the left with X. Thomas then strip-sacking A-Rod. Interesting Article on Xavier Thomas prior to Yesterday's GameRight now I feel okay with Zaven/X. Thomas/Browning rotating to get some pressure on the QB .... I believe Browning will be further incorporated into the defense after the bye. With the play of MHJ/Melton/Emergence of Rabbit/X. Thomas, big contributions from DRob will turn this draft into a bonified home run. I also look forward to injured Elijah Jones coming back in 2025 to help push SMB out the door.
