www.azcardinals.com/video/jonathan-gannon-speaks-with-the-media-following-the-cardinals-win-over-the-bears-in-week-9www.azcardinals.com/video/kyler-murray-speaks-with-the-media-following-the-cardinals-win-over-the-bears-in-week-9 I know most have seen the two videos posted above, but they do serve to highlight the thing I want to bring up about the game that sticks in my mind. Everybody knows about Kyler's HS exploits and his college days during his Jr. year when he became even more recognizable to the public. Now follow that up with KK's coming into the league with the Cards in an effort to continue the "Story of Kyler Murray". That story involves Kyler being a hero on Saturdays and then progressing to trying to continue to be a hero at the professional level on Sundays. Anybody that's been listening has even heard Kyler complain about the burden of the "hero" role while playing for the Cards. Does anybody think the game against the Bears showed Kyler that he does NOT have to be a hero really? I mean...his role was drastically different than any game he has played since he was drafted. He had some nice plays and did some other good things, but he was NOT in the "lime light". He was not in the spotlight. I'm NOT disparaging him, just pointing out a fact. The results of last night's game were the result of the "team FIRST" mentality that JG believes so strongly in, and the fruits of that were on full display! I'm not real sure that team first preaching sunk in until last night. Kyler seemed a little embarrassed and sheepish in his video above, but I hope he learned first hand that like Gannon said "EVERYBODY is important." I hope that everyone can agree with me that Monti Ossenfort and Jonathon Gannon may just be the BEST thing that has ever happened to this franchise. Many may have already arrived at that conclusion, but last night it was on full display. Yes...there were mistakes, etc, but as a team they looked super tough! GO CARDS!!

K1 has chose to buy in over being the hero and checked his ego…I thought the first tangible evidence was 2023 Eagles game… not calling out Wilson who ran the wrong route on the pick 6.
Multiple times in 2024 more involving MHJ and he said it wasn’t his job to force the ball to any WR. Rather play within the call, scheme and what the defense gives.
He has expressed wanting to air it out more…but he is following the coaching despite the ire directed at him.
Maturity involves knowing when and where to act or choose not to act with a better understanding of the whole picture.
He is showing good leadership and maturity. Not the agenda some of his critics are stuck on with their thoughts or opinions he is capable of or not capable of. He isn’t who they assessed him to be.
Beach gave him props early in the year…the same player who questioned his leadership in previous years. There is building evidence of K1’s maturing as well his ability to adapt.

Time seasons most every kind of mentality.

I agree we are playing excellent football considering we have such huge holes in talent especially in pass rush and run defense. Gannon taking average joes with the exception of Buddha making this ream relevant is amazing. Another offseason with draft and FA and we might have a real shot. I wish Conner was 3 years younger but man I love how violent he runs… lots of positives with how this team is coming together.
McBride/Murray connection is great now we just need Marvin and Kyler to gel and our offense will be legit.

I agree with your thoughts...an offense who can average 6+ yards per carry against a good defense is a legit offense...pass stats are flashy...rush stats like the Bears game is demoralizing for the defenses they face. Defenses all try to make offenses one dimensional.

The point of this thread was to point out that Kyler, for probably the first time ever, was not the focal point of the team's plan to win a game, and that since he was able to watch that all unfold and end in a victory, that it very likely had a high impact on his assumptions about "having to play hero ball". I didn't try to disparage K1 with any comments about his ego or whether or not he has bought in. Neither did I direct any ire or comment in a negative way about his leadership or maturity. Again....it was all about him spending 3 hours playing a great game that did not shove him into the hero role, and getting to experience that for the first time in the NFL.

There will be times that K1 will need to put on his cloak. That’s ok keep it in the closet until then.

If K1 isn’t playing Hero Ball that probably means we are controlling the game with powerful run game.

I was curious how his press interview would go after the game and was happy that his numbers and lack of use didn’t bother him. He understood that was the right way to play that game and understood his role in it as the lead grew and the game developed into a run-based, control the clock game. He was only mad at himself for missing a few “layups”. He’s more mature than pre-injury.

You have had a positive assessment of K1...my thought was the fears of how K1 would react to a lesser role and giving evidence of that fear being false. He is maturing and showing better leadership. I agree with you.

He’s more mature than pre-injury. dido: The WRs are another area of positive culture in their accepting a lack of targets and are bought in to team over me. Wins and team success is the the new culture and players like Moore are moved on from and the team doesn't care or are effected if such players quit. Cards are showing their weapons like QB and WRs are team first and FB players first over stat machines. What McBride does with limited touches sets the bar for other receiver positions as Conner sets the bar for those who rush. It is a triplet core K1, Conner and McBride the rest of the weapons are support players at this point. The others have to continue to up their game to the level of the three core weapons. One player I can not give enough kudos to is Tip...he is an impressive addition and it is hard to find stats on him and he doesn't play for the normal offensive stats to make him recognizable...he has impact every game and was a steal in the 3rd round. He erases defenders...even pro bowlers. In the next match-up Bosa and Warner will pay more attention to Tip. The national media members that cover Card games fail to recognize Tips impact.
