Good- Conner...Conner....Conner and Big Mack Wilson. Injured OL assist Conner on a 100 yard rushing night.
Bad-Chargers pass rush, run defense and WRs
Ugly- Charger fans VS AZ fans in the stadium.
The defense stopped run....great job.

I’m hoping we are 5-5 after Miami, Bears and Jets. It’s doable.

Seahawks could easily lose 2 of next 3, but 49ers next three are pretty easy. I might have to cheer on the Cowgirls!

I’m hoping we are 5-5 after Miami, Bears and Jets. It’s doable. Bears are better than us. They have a better defense and running game. Will be difficult beating them.
Miami is very beatable especially with Tua out.
Jets...definitely. They have no chemistry and their defense has imploded since their head coach was fired

Yep. And after that, the Vikings are the only “tough” team. Seahawks, Vikings, Seahawks, Patriots, Panthers, Rams, 49ers. At 5-5, we would have a shot to pass the Seahawks the next three weeks, then a fair shot at 3 straight wins, and a finale that could be a doozie in a rematch with the 49er at home! I don’t think the Seahawks are any better than us. I know the patriots, Panthers and Rams are worse. How’s a final game matchup with a 9-7 or 10-6 record sound against the 49ers at home sound?!

OK I woke up after only 4 hours sleep and the first thing I think about is MHJ trying to body catch that ball to the sideline on last drive when the game is on the line. So that is the backdrop for my post below and venting GOOD - - Legs of KM1 and JC were easily the stars of the game (I am of the opinion he must be re-signed). Heck even JG cited JC's strip on the early INT by the Chargers as maybe the key play of the game.
- RUN DEFENSE !! -- shocked me. Maybe the team is better off without the 2 over-priced (now hurt) FA DL signed who are on IR.
- Mack Wilson Sr. -- JG/Rallis FINALLY gave him more snaps off the edge and he did provide some pressure.
- McBride and Wilson for making key fumble recoveries when the ball hit the turf ... both times they were quicker than the Charger player(s) to dive aggressively knowing how important their play was at the time.
- Starling Thomas strip at the end zone though not sure if he was the culprit for letting Reagor get so wide open to begin with.
- Defensive EFFORT !!
- ZERO SACKS !!
BAD - - Pass defense against the Chargers TE's -- made them look like future HOF's.
- As I mentioned before the game, the Cards had only 8 possessions for the entire game and so every one of them is precious ... which is why when JC has begun trucking the Charger defense and Petzing calls the ridiculous "trick" play reverse (that is almost a fileable offense by itself) and then doing the "tush-push" 2x in a row allowing the Charger defense to crash in the OL targeting the backup RG in Colon. 2 other drives were negated with dropped passes (JC/Dortch on one drive) and then later in game KM1 missing an open Zay Jones on a crossing route.
- How many Charger fans were there at SFS.
- Keep wondering about DRob as team must make a decision to have him stay on the active roster by 10/28 or else he will be lost for the season.
UGLY - - MHJ/MHJ/MHJ -- see below comments made by others in my Note below.
- ON THE KEY PLAY OF THE GAME with GAME ON THE LINE (JC's catch and run on last drive) - when they showed the replay and JC is leaving Charger tacklers in his wake, there was #18 with one guy to block which might spring JC for a TD (or to fall down on the 1 yd line). MHJ running at about 60% of max effort didn't block him and allowed JC to be tackled.
- Coaches got a reprieve with a win but they need to be careful of losing the locker room when teammates are looking at the efforts of JC and Mack Wilson when compared to MHJ. I seriously would think about starting Zay Jones at the "X" receiver on first drive next week to send a message.
- It is ironic that MHJ is involved in the lawsuit about his "cut" when his jersey is sold -- well I can tell you right now his potential jersey sales going forward at least for 2024 is plummeting like Cisco's stock in 2000 from what it was this past May.
- Maybe Monti should have taken the Vikings 2 1st rounders and a third rounder on draft day (rumored Monti also wanted a 2025 1st or 2nd which the Vikings would not do), then draft Brian Thomas with one of the 1st rounders.
NOTE:1) Brian Baldinger on JV podcast after the Packers game stated MHJ looked totally disinterested in running his route if he was not the primary WR. 2) Last nights TV crew after a commercial timeout showed MHJ barely shuffling his feet when play was not coming his way - again looking disinterested, bored, depressed. 3) Brittain Golden (former Cardinal WR) on JV podcast post-game - "he looked like he didn't want to be there" ... "pouting"

This confirms the runs in the middle. It was mentioned by members last week about avoiding the middle runs in GB. One note of positive MHJ was put at slot and moved around a bit. There needs to be better use of him. No excuse to pout or not be engaged. It is a knock on his mental makeup. One of the most important things as an adult is to guard your brain and to on purpose...do not allow your environment to dictate who you are. MHJ is showing immaturity. The team better get the sports physicians on task getting MHJ's head right. He is young and this is very fixable...do not hesitate to address...make it a stepping stone and not a stumbling stone. The grown ups (coaches) need to have a little heart to heart and get their crap in a row. Less is more and all three phases need to get in sync. There are signs of positive adjustments and there is more to do. Conner is the leader and his greatness inspires. Thank you James.

The good: The refs seemed call call some things in our favor, which feels rare.

Maybe the team is better off without the 2 over-priced (now hurt) FA DL signed who are on IR. The above yes, Max Melton was playing way too far off the WR. No attemppt to correct the problem.

I have no issue with Melton’s play. He is a rookie and will get better. Some is scheme. At least he is competing and G Williams as a 2nd year player give hope of a bright future as they get experience. Unfortunately SMB was a bust. He was playing injured and the miss on the pick six was disappointing. Once Rabbit gets in the mix … more improvement will be expected. Deon return or actual introduction will help as well. Despite some not liking the Tip pick where and when he was picked… he took out Bosa and Warner on K1’s big TD and he lead block up the gut for Conner and makes the OL better. MHJ is working through some growing up issues and overall the 2024 draft class is trending well.

I was okay with Melton coverage though on one drive he had too much cushion however he made some good plays and Josh Palmer had a couple of incredible contested catches with Melton right there. When is Rabbit getting back on the field ? SMB is a big bust -- should have paid Jaylon Johnson from the Bears as his $19M/APY contract was a bargain especially considering Surtain at $24M-$25M/APY. DRob only has until the 28th of this month to be activated for good or else out for season ... hoping he plays vs. Dolphins. This team will need the depth as it'll be 80 degrees and humid in Miami on Sunday. So the Cards play at 95 degrees in San Jose, then 45 degrees in GB (did you see how nice the weather was yesterday), then indoor and now to 80 and humid in Miami. Good thing after next weekend the next 2 games are at home and then finally the bye. Hoping Jonah Williams could be back for either the Bears or Jets home game as I saw Isaiah Adams in there for some snaps last night -- Was Adams taking Colon or Beachum's place on the right side of the OL?

Didn't he also get a reception too?
