With Hutchinson situation in Detroit, I could see a trade for Reddick. They redo his current year to give him cash to pay his fines plus some then Reddick gets 1/2 a season to reset his market for one more deal.

The way I see it, the Jets gave up a conditional 2026 (not 2025) third rounder for Reddick, which is equal to a 2025 fourth in value. They are not going to get a 2025 fourth or better IMO now that he has been a problem child and has some off field stuff swirling as well, and is possibly out of NFL playing shape. His remaining contract is not guaranteed and is not as high as any other signing would be for a 29 year old 10+ sack OLB. As for us, 1) we are hitting the free agent spending phase of our rebuild. 2) OLB is a major hole for us, and we will likely be using free agent money to go after a stud OLB anyway. 3) Reddick is young enough to perform well through a 3-4 year contract. 4) He was drafted by the Cardinals, but also let go, which may or may not pose positive or negative loyalty questions 5) Gannon was his defensive coach during his most productive years and knows how to best use him. Im sure the Cardinals brass and coaches have their thoughts, and if there is interest have been following this saga closely and have trade capital and contract money in mind. I thought maybe we’d send them Zay Jones, but the Jets just made a huge trade for Davante Adams. Jets, despite being 2-4, have clearly decided to go all in with Rodgers at the helm this final year, and are punting on the long term. We have a longer horizon in mind. Does anyone think we could get Reddick under a 3-4 year contract plus a pick or two in exchange for Budda? We’d be giving up on this year but be able to integrate Reddick into the defense as Ojulari heals up and DRob gets through his injury and rookie year. Rabbit could get valuable play time in place of Budda. And we could enter the 2025 free agency and draft with OLB solved and another pick or two. Thoughts?

An issue that I just read about on a Lions thread is that apparently when the Eagles traded Reddick to the Jets, there was a clause that their conditional third would become a 2026 second rounder if traded to an NFC team. That alone could take us out of the running and make a team like the Bengals more likely.

Aaron Rodgers needs weapons, Zay is quality possession receiver. Would really help that wr room. Cards are loaded in the wr, and we don’t really want to replace Dortch with Jones. Dortch is excellent slot option. Reddick could well tip the balance of power in the West to us. You know he will be angry and full of JG violence. We are loaded at WR? Really, news to me Outside of Cardinals fans, I don't think any NFL GM or outside fan considers us to have weapons at wide receiver other than MHJ
Maybe loaded is an exaggeration but we are certainly proficient at the position with Wilson and Dortch on top of MHJ. Xavier Weaver impressed during preseason which suggests he might prove to be an asset when given more playing time. Might be as soon as this coming Monday night.

I'd rather see the Cards go after Crosby instead of a retrofit of Reddick since the Raiders are in more of a rebuild than us.

Reddick is ideal for a team that is contending and already has a lot of talent on their defense. That's where he will be the most productive. He will struggle here with no defensive tackles or any other pass rushing specialist to help take pressure off of him. He would be a huge waste of money.

Without decent thrust up the middle to unsettle the O-Line, then trying to 'win' off the edge becomes a hard grind and a bit of a thankless task. Perhaps the forum should refrain from lobbying for his signing, for the good of Haason and the remaining time of his football career.

Better and cheaper option as an edge rusher -- I mentioned his name about 3 weeks ago and this new article from the 33rdteam.com thinks he is available for a trade. The player to try and get is age 24, 2nd round pick of the Giants out of Georgia and his brother plays for the Cardinals - Azeez Ojulari. Oh by the way, he just had a monster game vs. the Bengals and as a rotational player has more pressures/sacks than anyone on the Cardinals. Next Trade Candidates in the NFL
A player that I would hope Monti would call about and maybe could be available in a trade from a ONE-win team AND fills a need for a CB1 going into the future is Jaycee Horn of the Panthers. Has a 70 PFF score on a team which also does not sack/pressure the opposing QB. He is only age 23 and his best football is ahead of him but up to this season, he has been injury-prone so the misfit-organization of the Panthers might be willing to trade him as he approaches his 5th yr option year in 2025. Upgrade your Edge and CB positions with young, productive players would allow Monti to concentrate on OL/DL in 2025 draft. Right now SMB has become the 2024 version of Marco Wilson and I'd love to see how this defense would look upgrading Edge/CB coupled with return of DRob.

Would you make that deal? Sure. I would like to have a sit-down with the owner and agent and work on a deal. The deal-breaker might be the player saying 'no.' Not everyone wants to live in a town that fries bare skin from April to October.

Reddick ended his holdout, agreed to a short term deal with the Jets and is still pursuing a long term deal.
