1ST. Your QB is journeyman Jeff Blake 2nd. Your team record ends up 4-12 3rd. Emmitt Smith Is your RB 4TH, You are a 2nd round NFL PICK ( lets see so was Andy Isabella)
Question WR Who are you?
Anquan Boldin of course
The best rookie wide receiver debut in NFL history belongs to Anquan Boldin. In his first game with the Arizona Cardinals in 2003, Boldin recorded an incredible 10 catches for 217 yards and two touchdowns1. This performance remains unmatched as the greatest debut by a rookie wide receiver.
He ran a 4.71 at the combine. His rookie season 101 receptions 1377 yards 8 TDS NFL offensive rookie of the year NFL Pro Bowl as a rookie.
This was before the Cardinals drafted Larry Fitzgerald.
FORUM I GIVE YOU THAT PERFORMANCE

I liked some of what McGinnis did. Green established some legitimacy and selected some good and great players. Whisenhunt polished what Green built and became the best-performing HC in the desert.
McGinnis was encouraged to pick Boldin by Jerry Sullivan the WR coach who was coach for the Lions previously in his time at the Cardinals.
The Cardinals gave Boldin his opportunity in the NFL and he is one of a few vocal players who wanted the ball and then demanded proper compensation, leading to him being traded. It was a disappointing end to his time in the desert.
The transition from the late Bidwell to Mike and the monetary rules for the owners with all the media-shared funds regulate a higher minimum pay to rosters and thus to players. Teams who were quite stingy about paying up more on players now spend more.
Maybe Boldin could have been paid enough in the desert under different circumstances. Boldin was consistent in demanding the ball. Even at FSU the recruited QB demanding play time switched to WR to get on the field. Boldin was an alpha and at this point, MHJ is a very gifted and hard-working player with great support from his father...is he an alpha? Not determined at this point. Boldin was still the alpha when the better WR Fitzgerald was picked and their careers together.
The interesting thing is the mirror of Wilson and MHJ and Boldin and Fitz. The new duo can push each other to perform better.
The Card culture, coaching, and FO are in a better position for the new duo.
With McBride being injured the Cards will rely more on the WRs. Can they pick up their game?
Looking at the Lion game again a couple of MHJ drops hurt. K1's ignoring a quick pass to Conner to extend a drive and later in the game the force to MHJ that resulted in the INT were the difference makers in a win and loss.
The Cards can hang with the best NFL teams, they need more consistency from the new WR duo.
Jeff Blake quote: Everybody says the Cardinals are doormats, ... I've tried to show the guys that perceptions are worth nothing. It might not happen overnight, but I want to get this team fixed.
It has been a long road trying to fix this team.

It has been a long road trying to fix this team. M.T., I have to disagree with this statement. Out of 6 seasons as our Head Coach, we had only two winning seasons. His two seasons with a winning season were because of Anquan and Larry. Who drafted Anquan and Larry? Dennis Green did. You do realize that it usually takes one to two years for drafted players to break out. Who really benefited from Anquan and Larry? Whisenhunt. Let's take a look at 2012. Our QB's were: Kevin Kolb: 5 Game Starts John Skelton: 6 Game Starts Ryan Lindley: 4 Game Starts Brian Hoyer: 1 Game Start Do you think that Whisenhunt any influence in the selection of QB Corp? I think it is safe to say that yes he did. And if he did, not good choices at all. Guess who brought in Kurt Warner? It was Dennis Green...not Whisenhunt. Dennis Green brought in Anquan, Larry and Warner...Whisenhunt did not do that...but yet he benefited from what Dennis Green did by bringing in those 3 players. Once Warner left, Whisenhunt's choices in starting and back up QB's was horrendous and our win/loss record reflects that... Check out our QB Corp once Warner left and you will see that Whisenhunt was horrible at choosing a Warner replacement... Whisenhunt Record with Cardinals 2007 8-8 Season 2008 9-7 Season 2009 10-6 2010 5-11 2011 8-8 2012 5-11 I just had to point this out because I totally disagree that Whisenhunt was our best Head Coach ever...he wasn't even close to that...sorry....

NFL is result based. McGinnis drafted Boldin and Green had his first pick Fitz even though Boldin was a great rookie WR the year before. Green was a better coach, but didn't have the win percentage or any post season games in AZ. Whiz had a lower regular season win percentage than BA, but doubled his playoff win percentage over BA. Based on results Whiz has had the best success for the Cards in AZ. He was able to take what Green built and established to get those results. BA may be a better coach, but with unfortunate QB injuries didn't have the post season success Whiz did. BA had a flaw in the no risk-it...the QB could get killed holding on waiting for the big play. I personally think Green was the best AZ Cardinal head coach, but Whiz took the team the deepest and closest to a SB win. I would go Green, BA and the Whiz as per quality. Thus "The best performing AZ Cardinal HC" Too early for JG, but he is off to a great start.

We agree more than you have posted. You assumed I was saying Whiz was better than Green...not what I posted. I said he polished what Green built. Whiz took a solid roster Green built as both of us have posted and had the deepest run to a SB and lost. No other AZ HC has accomplished that...so the most successful comment in my original post. In my view...hands down Green was the best coach and team builder...Green was a great coach from the Bill Walsh coaching tree and had a good eye for drafting talent and signing FAs. Even with the deep SB run I like BA over Whiz. Injuries hamstrung BA's teams from peaking. Whiz did a good job working with what he had and to say he was the most successful was based on his playoff record that was twice as good as BA's in the desert along with a SB appearance.

I'm going back to the OP's post. There is a high bar here. I was in a small handful of people that questioned if we should draft him. It wasn't so much I was completely against it. I questioned if he was a true generational WR. To be fair, I don't follow college ball, so I was only reading between the lines of pundits and even people here. There were some statistics that favored others and at a cheaper draft spot. Granted you can read those anyway you like. Still, we drafted him. Since we did, I got on the bandwagon. I was and still am hoping he will be a generational WR. But man, he has dropped one too many passes for my liking. Maybe it's just rookie jitters, I don't know but, in my mind, a generational WR should not be doing that. I'm not giving up on him....ask me at the end of the season.

The difference is, expectations. Not many knew who Boldin was and didnt know he would be that good. MHJ has had high expectations before he even considered going into the NFL draft.

Once Fitz's rookie contract was not paying Fitzgerald appropriately Rod Graves and Fitz's agent worked out a proper contract for Larry and all was well and good until Boldin was made aware that Larry was making more $$ than Boldin was. Anquan held out on the team until adjustments were made to please him. After that, Anquan's contract was reneged a few years later and IIRC, Larry's contract was due to be redone about a year after Anquan's had been done. Naturally, Larry's ended up paying him more than Anquan's because it was negotiated a year later than Anquan's. Once again Boldin held out until the team satisfied him by making his pay commensurate with Fitz's. After the 2009 season, Anquan Boldin was traded to the Baltimore Ravens.

I 100% agree DH. Boldin was as tough as nails and a VERY prolific receiver. I will never forget him wearing that “halo” after taking the head shot from the Jets defenders in the end zone. 3 weeks later he was playing. Who can forget that? Then, after he went to the Ravens, the game between them and the Cards. He got in Flacco’s ear and after that it was like he was the only WR the Ravens had…and he totally kicked the Cards a$$e$.
