This was a winnable game until I saw the first Lion possession and watched the Cardinals D-line get mis-directed and gashed for an early TD. This was my biggest fear as posted on another thread earlier in the week. Lions set the tone and opposing OC, Ben Johnson, dissected and dismantled whatever Nick Ralis had dialed up.
Murray, Petzing and company played catch up football from there on. They answered the Lions opening drive and Murray looked like the K1 from last week. After the Harrison TD, the Lions D just dominated this game. Kyler looked tentative after throwing the end zone INT and played, imo, passive as not to make another mistake instead of aggressive when the outcome was still in doubt.
In fairness, the Lions under GM Brad Holmes, Dan Campbell and OC Ben Johnson have superseded baby steps and have their organization from rebuild, ready to compete for conference titles in just 3 years.
The Lions are an NFC threat to represent the conference in a Super Bowl. The Cardinals need a few more 'baby steps' to become a legit football organization.

The team cannot afford to lose anymore D or O-line starters for sure. Every injury to a starter puts more L's in the board.

Dan took over in 2021 for the Lions and first year he was 3-13. Second year they were really bad again, but then just went on a winning streak ending 9-8. Third year is when they finally took off at 12-5. The Cardinals won 4 games in their first year, they are only in the early stages of their second season. So it could very well be the same path. Its only year 2, people forget its still early in the rebuild. It took 3 years for the Lions under Dan to finally turn things around. It took some good drafting and time and hard nose coaching to turn the corner. They dont do it with big name players, they do it as a hard nose team. Their pass rush is amazing with a guy they drafted, Hutchinson. Their oline very good as well. Not saying the Cards are on the same path, but its still early and they can do it. They are close IMO. Add a decent pass rush, improve on the oline and get some vets to help take it to the next level. Remember, MHJ is just a rookie and overall this team is very young. Year, early year 2. A lot of time left and they have a lot of resources now and they got rid of the bad contracts, the bad locker room players. As I keep saying, it takes time with a young team like this.
