This is a great video by Warner. I think something we all forget in our criticism of the little dude is that because of his athletic ability and his ability to make every throw that he does not have to become Peyton Manning or Tom Brady or Drew Brees at reading defenses. He just has to be good enough at it to take the obviously open easy completions and to not make the dumb mistakes with bad throw in the coverage. His other abilities will make up for some of the lacking being an expert at reading the defense.
In my humble opinion the biggest area for growth for the little dude is when it is a broken play or a sprint out or rollout is called. The threat of him running makes the nearest defenders react and he has to be able to realize that the threat of him running is going to open up easy completions as the defensive players react towards him to stop him from running, much like we saw Russell Wilson do for years.

It really didn’t look like K1’s big runs were called runs. With or without him having run plays called for him is good since the defense may cover well and the scramble is a product of the one or two read not being there as you stated. There is enough film on his run ability to make defenses play for it. I appreciate the non-need to be elite at reads…the key is the OC needs to have plays that are within his wheelhouse and we are seeing that. Doesn’t matter how the job gets done…results are the key. K1 has elite abilities that can not be taught…you have them or not. Run ability and ability to make any throw. Get his confidence up, it looks like the confidence is up there. 13 personnel is important due to how it limits defenses into 2 possible coverages. All the videos on Rams game highlight this fact. Kurt goes into more complex possibilities of K1’s options, but as he concluded the difference in a perfect QB rating and a perfect game exists and an imperfect game with good choices being made is the key. It is easy to pick apart games with slow-mo and rewinding…it is hard to process at game speed and K1 is getting better in the mental part…that is all any Card fan wanted it is the key for team success. Drew is great at putting K1 in position to have success.

One of the key items mentioned in Warner's video was the fact that you don't have time usually to go back to your first read. This is what separates the difference between the average quarterback and a great quarterback. And this is also why film study is so important. Players such as Brady or Montana did not have to read every player on the defense because they knew that by reading just one or two players that would dictate what the other players did.
