#3? Quite a compliment and I would say that’s yet to be determined. We’ve definitely put up points and controlled time of possession, but it’s only two games. I’ve said on these pages before I want to see at least six games to really get a feel for a team. I did say the other day I think we are top 10 with potential to be top 5. Oline or an injury to Kyler, MHJ, Conner or McBride would be the area we could fail. It won’t be Kyler or his weapons if they remain healthy.

I'm pleased with the showing we had against the Rams and I was encouraged by the effort against the Bills in that I feel we defeated ourselves via mistakes. But I'm really not into what I feel is too much hype so early in the season.

The national writers and talking heads are recognizing the impact of MHJ and K1’s ability to get him the ball or the other options as well as Cards ability to run the rock. I like K1 vs any of the top QBs. It is a QB driven league and K1 can create nightmares for defenders. I thought Cris Long giving K1 and the Cards props was enlightening as a former player who also said JJ Watt was at camp and gave his TV crew the recommendation to promote Cards as a sleeper and the others poo poo-ed the thought. His opinion was based on culture and coaching as per Cris. Long also said his thoughts on the Cards were given similar disdain from the NFL film show he does with BB. I posted Cris’s podcast on lion’s week thread…a solid take.

My comment on the #3 offense rating is that while it is a QB driven league, you rarely see a top 5 offense without a top 5 offensive line, and I am in no way convinced we have one. The highlight throws by Kyler on Sunday were too often from broken plays with him scrambling, and Conner’s success was credited to Conner and not wide open holes and downfield blocking by the Olinemen. We still aren’t creating a long pocket or moving Dlines backwards. I put us in the 5-10 best category until this Oline proves me wrong…which I’d love. As it stands, I still think we need to go heavy Dline and Oline in the 2025 free agency and draft.

When you can consistently run inside and create a pocket for the QB to comfortably make throws, then you can can call us a top 5 offense. We are far from that.
Also, offenses are revealed in November and Decembers. Teams always look great early in the season when the weather is warm and conditions are ideal. Let's see how you do in the second half of the season. Can you still pass protect? Can you still run inside? Can your back-ups and depth step up. Can you protect a lead and control possession with your running game?
I still think we are two drafts away from having an imposing offensive and defensive line. The weaknesses are still on the interior of the offensive and defensive lines.

Too early to judge any team or player. Cards need to keep running the ball and executing well. K1 has started seasons well before and then teams figured him out. Belichick was talking about how he would rush him wide and keep him in the pocket. These are tactics we have seen before. Kliff/Kyler and company did not adjust to that to counter defenses. Will this staff and a more mature Kyler have an answer?? TBD
If things do get stagnant a bit, it will be interesting to see what adding Zay Jones to this offense does. Many have forgotten about him.
I wish we had D. Robinson for this Lions game as he would be very helpful.

I’m really hoping he only misses the four games and starts getting some game experience. We will need him as the season rolls on.

I wish we had D. Robinson for this Lions game as he would be very helpful. The best thing from 2023 was K1 got live snaps. He also established a sync with McBride, Dortch and Wilson. One thing that became evident with week 2 breakdowns is the errors by WRs and K1 processing well. Drew is putting K1 in position to win as well as taking K1 will always get the blame for errors or perceived weakness or things he doesn't like to do. Since the video game clause K1 is in a no win position with many fans. O'Sullivan would like K1 to stay in structure a bit more with the caveat that it has always been an improviser and it works for him. K1 was going through progressions as well as put in position by 13 personnel and heavy formations to simplify defensive coverage options. I love Bill and his ability to provide solutions or point out the obvious. Drew coaching K1 allows K1 to overcome former obstacles he could not overcome...it is easy to see why K1 likes Drew and his ability to scheme plays that work. Back to 2023...the hurdle and all JG's comments on the beauty of a huddle and controlling the clock. Plus the establishment of the run. Last week against the Rams to highlight the quality of the OL before MHJ's first TD Conner had chunk runs in the 10+ yards per carry. Why was Conner successful? The OL and the creating of running lanes. The OL is better at run blocking than pass pro...I hear criticism about the OL continually. The OL needs to have all these new additions...unfortunately the coaches are looking for specific attributes...big powerful physically dominate OL players who can run block first as well as have mobility to pull. They are not as good at pass pro...the coaches expect K1 to get rid of the ball fast and slow down rush by keeping defenses honest with the run game and formations. Paris is not the best on the Cards OL yet, but is trending in that direction. Evan Brown is a strong interior OL with experience at center, so he and Hjalte can be in sync pre-snap reads and calls. Hjalte is the best OL player for the Cards. Will is the second best. RT with Jonah's injury is up in the air and how nice to have Beach. We are two weeks into this OL playing together...it is a solid group despite being trashed by many fans. Hello, defensive players get paid as well...across the NFL several teams who had good OLs are struggling with poor OLs currently. Cards OL primarily have to be good at run game and they are...the pass-pro will improve. FB is the ultimate team sport and is QB driven...Cards are really good at the important parts. They play hard with great culture and they have a good and a top 10 QB.

Since the video game clause K1 is in a no win position with many fans. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If I might add to your post? One thing a TON of people don't think of, don't understand, or WHATEVER, is this: It can be nearly impossible to do a nice, neat job of pass protecting for Kyler Murray. He tends to get itchy in the pocket and lean on his ability to move those short legs very quickly! Yes, if he honestly stays in the pocket it's a lot easier, but that just is not always the case! Kurt made a good point as well with how fast K1 is dropping back…there are times to slow the drop back to time for the slow developing routes. He highlighted a poor throw due to dancing and poor foot placement.

What's the deal with the other rookie defensive end we drafted in the mid rounds that showed promise in camp. Is he back yet?

What's the deal with the other rookie defensive end we drafted in the mid rounds that showed promise in camp. Is he back yet? I was wondering about that earlier, so I decided to go over to AzCardinals.com and see what I could find out. Zach Thomas is not on IR and played a small amount against the Rams. I'd have to assume that JG/Rallis must think he needs to develop a bit more. Unless he got banged up a little in his short time on the field...
