The Rams have been struck by a wave of injuries, especially on the Oline, with injuries to G Kevin Dotson, tackle Rob Haverstein, C Steve Avila, T Joe Noteboom and a suspension of T Americ Jackson. They have of course also lost standout WR Puka Nacua to IR.
Now it looks like the 49ers are putting premier RB Christian McCaffrey on IR for at least 4 weeks, which would include our Oct 6th game.
Next up, the Packers are facing mounting injuries with QB Jordan Love, RB Josh Jacob’s not practicing due to a back issue, and now star WR Jayden Reed questionable with knee and calf issues.
Finally, after a game against the Chargers, we face Miami who lost QB Tua to yet another concussion. He may go on IR, missing our game. There are even calls for his retirement.
None of us wish injury on any of these young men, but I think it’s worth discussing how this could affect our early schedule. These are some tough teams during a hard early stretch, and injuries to starting QB’s, pro bowl RB’s and WR1’s are no small thing when trying to get a W.

I agree don't wish injury but if we could take advantage of injury this could get them on a roll the Rams though we have to slow that running game and offense needs to get rolling. Don't take your foot off the pedal.

Possibly can take advantage of these issues but lets be realistic we are not a playoff team so we are better off developing the youngsters and taking our lumps for a high draft pick.

That was my strategy last year, and I do want to get young guys like our first 4 rounds of draft picks time, but Kyler is not out half the season like last year and I want them to go for it the first half of this season. If they have a terrible record then, fine, move to the 2023 strategy. But if the record is decent our schedule the second half is easier.

No mercy in the NFL Cards need to jump on the advantages My thoughts, exactly. Did any teams show sympathy to the Cardinals dire situation late in the 2022 season and first 8 games of the 2023 season? No mercy is allowed in the NFL. A quick kill in the first half is the best solution to an ailing team. There is no shame in losing that way.

Rams are #14, San Fran #2, Green Bay #11 and Miami #9 on the current NFL.com power rankings. Bills, a close loss, are #7. We are #25. Any wins the next 5 weeks would be huge for us. I agree, we need to take advantage.

As we've seen, the powers that be in the gambling world take this into consideration when proposing their line, not to say that's the end all-be all. Still can you imagine how JG and the team overall would feel if they still managed to lose those games? It wouldn't exactly be heart warming....

I'm thinking we're not going to be able to assess the strength of this team until about week 8 or thereabouts. There are so many youngsters and rookies that the team is bound to solidify as the season progresses.

If we can't generate a pass rush against a dilapidated Rams OL, then we're in for a very long season.

Yeah the year we went to the SB I didn't think we were a playoff team either. I have to try to watch my predictions after watching us go to the playoffs and on to the superbowl and last year Houston of saying we ain't, Just never know.

I love all the optimism, and we have some key guys hurt on D so maybe you are correct. I will temper my optomism lol.
