While working as a janitor at an institute of higher learning I got the feeling I knew more than those around me. I would see numbers and equations and see the solutions.
50.4 2^of 32 1+85=7
1+18=7 85>LBs PA>+counter<pass
12P> 13P> Bills<Cards
Does your beautiful mind see the solutions?
Enough humor, now I would like to share some reasons why the Cards are in better position than many think. Why? To start Petzing and his alien appearance...if you look like your dome has it's own gravitational pull...you better be smart. Petzing is more than smart he is excellent at the use of TEs and establishing the run. Many moving pieces and multiple uses of eye candy and punch the opponent in the mouth.
The Cards are loaded with size and strength at the OL and RB room...plus the addition of Tip the TE room has beef as well...I do like Vokolek as well. The guards and center are the core as well as the key. The IOL can hold their ground and also push their weight around.
Conner and now Benson they are the draft horses to keep the defense's attention. Maybe soften the defense a bit as well.
Pre-snap the jet motion of the WR is the eye candy when the run is established.
The real heart and motor that makes everything work is K1 and even with the pressure being taken off his shoulders or the coaches giving him great support in the roster Napoleon the great general despite his vertical challenge is wielding a Sabre or rather a cannon the Cards are not bringing a knife to a gun show. Is he under center is the cry I keep hearing. The play action is under center and K1 is masterful in his ball skills and bait and switch or where is the FB?
Once the run is established the Cards will use jet motion...play action...where is the FB?...TE in 12 personnel formation may engage block and slide counter the flow of the play action in a crossing routes...85 can outrun some CBs...the LBs, even fast ones are in trouble if 85 gets a step on them one on one or a couple OL can slide out and 85 can go screen after the blocking wiff.
These are not imagination...85 had a breakout year on purpose because Drew was doing these very things. Stat to chew on in 2023 K1 was 2 best QB at passes 0-9 yards and the Cards did this at the highest rate 50.4% of the time. The Cards did not have a deep threat and still worked defenses over by throwing to 85 in short routes. For those who are concerned about the OL you have not taken in account the prolific short game that Petzing runs.
K1 over his career has been a 2 TD to 1 INT QB. He has now been gifted a second chance after a serious injury and is still a former Heisman Trophy winning QB and the king of TX HS FB. He has accuracy, he has the ball skills to hide where the ball is on play action and can also sling the long ball.
I started this post with humor, but do not dismiss the tangible evidence given in 2023 and the improvements of the 2024 team. Cris Simms picked Cards to win...Kyle Brandt is a fan. Yes the Cards have done nothing in the last two years to get people on the outside to have confidence, but there have been many things positive in the last year and a half. The 12 and 13 personnel formations are dynamic with the scheme and personnel, the OL has been upgraded as well given better quality depth, the RB room is better, the TE room is better....I have not even touched on MHJ and his impact in 2023 the Cards proved they do not need MHJ, but wow it is nice having him and an up-trending Wilson.
In the opener watch how the TE position is used off play action it is a well oiled machine.
I also was able to drop the Chirp'n Time. I am over Chirp'n over this team out of frustration and ready to go back to my MT roots. Post 7000 is back to MT Diesel.
I hope my friends enjoy the post.
