Im happy with that. Just a low end guy to fill a hole. No wasting money and or draft picks trying to replace BJ for a short time rental.

Camp body and practice player until they can address the position at a higher level. Glad they did not panic and overpay someone that is sitting on their couch or trade away assets while eating cap space.
Guys better than him will be cut in the coming weeks. Maybe they find someone on a stacked team at edge and only need to give up a 5th and no new contract.

Never rush when cuts will all be on the same day and we have the cap space to get a better player. |

We see this happen every year. A new guy shows up and something is missing in his kit bag. He's gone in a day. Good for MO running a tight ship at SFS. Sends a message to other wannabes. |

Figured he would be a camp body and some reps in preseason before being cut. Glad they trimmed the fat as soon as they realized it was a waste. This was never going to be a relevant signing.

IMO there is going to be a LOT of evaluation with tonight's Saints pre-season game and the scrimmages this week with the Colts. I believe Xavier Thomas will see a lot of snaps this week so the coaches can evaluate his ability to be an effective rotational pass rusher. Additionally, I do believe Mack Wilson will see snaps during season at rushing the QB so I wouldn't be surprised if Monti's next signing is actually at ILB. Speaking of LB's, Pappoe has been flashing some at TC and appears to be nearly a lock for the 53-man roster. - I do not think Monti is going to give up draft capital and pay H. Reddick $27M/APY on a new contract.
- There is speculation that Yannick Ngakoue can't pass a physical due to a bad ankle injury in 2023.
- Wonder if Carl Lawson left this week due to $$ demands or is it possible he also has lingering injury concerns.
- Monti I think would lean to picking up a pass rusher who was a late TC camp cut or a surprise cut from a team due to cap constraints ... I believe JG/Monti are of a mindset to sign a guy who has had TC to get his body ready rather than a FA who has been sitting on his couch for months.

hell was Zaven Collins tonight v. the Saints? This dude hasn't earned veteran status to not participate
in preseason games imo. Collins needs every snap available. He has slow football acumen and has yet
to develop any edge presence. Collins should've played the entire 1st half with Pasch and Wolfley
calling all the plays Collins wrecked against 2nd and 3rd team Saints players squad.
If Collins is injured, I apologize in advance. I looked for any injury posts and didn't find any.
That dude should've been on the field!

Not playing him as well as extending him are both a bit surprising as I do not think any of us have seen anything out of him to merit these things. Maybe he has crushed the offseason and training camp in their minds. I will say they think he is intelligent and they clearly like him. Hopefully we will see what they see this season. It is not like he was their draft pick either, so something positive must be going on there. There are also two more games, maybe guys like Zaven they want to have the reps closer to the regular season opener. I think playing some guys in the second preseason game makes sense. We will see their strategy. |

We took two Linebackers with our first round pick in consecutive drafts...up until now...we have not seen anything to be able to say those were good picks...in my mind...as of right now..they have panned out as poor picks...Simmons for sure...the jury is still out on Zaven...I am thinking that since they extended Zaven...we will not find out why they did that until regular season starts...whether he plays in any of the preseason games left...is up in the air right now...
For now, I am ok that we did not draft an above average Pass Rusher...our draft I think was excellent because we filled needs and depth...at other positions other than Pass Rusher...I was disappointed when B.J. Ojilari went down for the season...
If we win 9 games this season...I will be very happy about that...and then next season we can fill in our needs and depth to become a playoff contender...but who knows...maybe our team will stun the NFL Community this season...I can't wait to see the game against Buffalo...
